Male Athletes Merge from Various Sports Lettermen ' s Club. An association of athletes. Majoring in one or maybe many sports. Donning red sweaters covered with gold letters and an assortment of insignias, patches, and medallians. Ushering at basketball games. Challenging the faculty to a brisk basketball game: swishing, stealing, scoring, devilish, defeating; destroying all confidence in them. Taking on the girls of G.A.A.— bowing to a ' slight ' defeat. Sponsoring a Kiwanis queen candidate in the spring. Lettermen—a muscle-bound collection of Rocky athletes. " Working-out " in the weight room seems to be a favorite pasttime of these Lettermen. Dolphinettes Glamorize the Art of Swimming Dolphinettes Sychronizing swimmers Practicing . . . morning and nights—by the hour in preparation for the ' " big night " production in April. Croups of girls freshman through senior females— learning new dives revising new versions. Then trying out, hoping to become ' a ' dolphinette. Stunt meets: a first this year. Requiring three special stunts— " kipping " and " somer-subbing. " " Dolphining " —another event. Being a dolphinette means practice as a prescription; knowing that each work-out brings them closer to perfection. Mr. Ackerson gives instructions to the girls during the tryouts for the Dolphinette show. Lorri Goldsmith discusses Dolphinette business affairs with the club advisor Mr. Ackerson. 48
