Trodding paths for the Cross Country Team were FIRST ROW, Bob Bellomy, Ted Larson, Ken Enstrom, Larry Begyn, Gary Greenleaf, Tony Canny, Ben Farrar, Kevin O ' Hern, and Bob Gindlesparger. SECOND ROW , Craig Brown, Dennis Metz, Dan Murphy, Tom Skafidas, Frank Frances, Kevin Eckert, Melvin Stetson, Scott Mcllvain, and Ftoward Waxenburg. THIRD ROW, Carl Mattson, Dick Nesseler, Rick Steger, and Mike Jackson. ' 68 track teams continue chain of victories The most successful sports teams of Rocky in the 1968-69 sports season were the Cross Country and Fall Track Squads coached by Howard Lundeen. The varsity team amassed 72 wins and 4 losses in three years, the junior varsity was undefeated, and the Sopho¬ more squad ran up a 27 and 10 mark. This year ' s varsity runners won the Quad-City and Valey Fall Track Championships, they took second in the Mississippi Valley Cross Country Cham¬ pionships, first in district Cross Country and 19th out of over two hundred schools in the State Cross Country meet. 226 Team Captain Larry Begyn set the pace for this year ' s team by setting the school rec¬ ord in the mile at 4:23.9. Larry was backed up with the excel¬ lent distance running of sen¬ iors Ben Farrar, Ted Larson, Bob Bellomy, and Gary Green- leaf. The hard work and dedica¬ tion of the Fall Track and Cross Country Teams was re¬ warded at a banquet given for both squads. Ken Enstrom and Tony Canny both received the Most Improved Runner Award. The award for the Most Valu¬ able Runner went to team captain Larry Begyn and Mel Stetson became 1970 captain. Tracksters, Ken Enstrom and Larry Begyn, contemplate coming events.

Enstrom, are hopeful of the spring meet because of their fall state track meet honors. Seasonal track squad springs into action The spring track team shaped up into one of Coach Hod Lundeen ' s most well- rounded teams. The team ex¬ hibited great depth in every department. The nucleus of the field events consisted of Drake De- Vore, Bob Carbone, and Brian Hawkins, This season also saw outstanding performances from the distance department, Larry Begyn, Ken Enstrom, Ben Farrar, Tony Canny, Kevin O ' Hern, Ted Larson, Bob Bel- lomy, Gary Greenleaf, and Mel Stetson. The sprint men turned in some excellent performances by Tom Cole, Harvey Chaney, Lew Miskowicz, and Jim Arm¬ strong. The hurdles were head¬ ed by Ken Johnson, Frank Wood, and Reggie Boswell. 228
