Musical ensembles render harmonious tunes To permit easier instruction, the Band director divided stu¬ dents into the Concert Band and the Symphonic Band. This was conducive for alternate days of specialized and gen¬ eral training. Another group, the Stage Band, was chosen for virtuoso skill to represent RIHS in exchange assemblies, as well as playing in the Home¬ coming Assembly. Much of the routine work fell to cornet player Frank Thomas, Band manager and " right hand man " to the Band director. Frank was assisted by Sharon Sey¬ mour and Julie Blick. Christmas Certainly the best sounding organization at Rocky was the Senior Glee. The versatile Senior Glee was often called upon to provide musical back¬ ground for a Rocky activity, or to put on a concert of their own. In the spring of this year, hopeful sophomore members of chorus class tried out to become members of the Sen¬ ior Glee during their junior and senior years. If accepted, they were expected to work hard toward a goal of musical perfection. It was this that made the Christmas concert and the spring concert pre¬ sented by the Senior Glee seem all the more enjoyable. 154
