TENSION MOUNTS as the Homecoming Court awaits the announcement of the queen. Homecoming 1 Moves in “Under the Big Top” A RADIANT SMILE reflects the happiness which Queen Cindy Lewis feels. From yards of chickenwire and endless rolls of crepe paper emerg-ed the floats which declared to the citizens of Rock Island that the 1966 Homecoming celebration had beg un. The official beg-inning was on Friday morning , October 21 when the Homecoming Assembly was held. The Pom-Pon Dance, Pep Club skit, Dance Band numbers-all were performed in honor of the Queen and her court. Friday afternoon, g ay floats pre¬ dicting the destruction of the West football team wound throug ' h downtown Rock Is¬ land. Friday nig ht’s hig hlig ht was the foot¬ ball game where, at the half, the prize win¬ ning floats as well as the Homecoming royalty were presented. The Homecoming Dance was held Satur¬ day nig ht in the Girls Gym. The gym was decorated to correspond with the theme “Under the Big Top”. The climax of this mem¬ orable evening was the final presentation and recog-nition of the 1966 Homecoming- Queen and her court.
