VARSITY OFFICERS LEAD Y-Teen activities such as Bake A Y-Teen Member Under the leadership of the new Y- Teens advisor, Mrs. Gerald McKinney, the Young Women’s Christian Association aided the community through drives such as the Poppy Sale and the Muscular Dystrophy Drive. It enabled its members to grow in friendship and understanding through ser¬ vice projects, parties, dances, and interest¬ ing programs. The Y-Teens started off the funfilled year with a splash-a-swim followed by a potluck supper with a choice among dozens of deli¬ cious salads. The organization completed its next project, the Homecoming Royalty float in time for the festivities. Each was ap¬ pointed a big sister, who kidnapped her by surprise on an October morning and carted her down to the YWCA, pajamas and all, for a Big-Little Sister Breadfast Party. So began the exciting year. Y-TEEN MEMBERS TABULATE the money made in their bake sale.

Sophomore Y-Teens Join Others in Service Y-TEENS DISCUSS Future events in the activities of the Y-Teens. Working in Y-Teen sponsored bake sales, car washes, and concession stands, members contributed to the club treasury. The Christ¬ mas spirit of joy prevailed as members car¬ oled in downtown Rock Island and partici¬ pated in the annual Hanging of the Greens. Club activity came to a climax with the approach of the Y-Teen sponsored Sweet¬ heart Swirl. To attend this semi-formal, girl-ask-boy dance, each Y-Teen member is required to have participated in two club meetings. The year’s activities were brought to a close with the Freshmen Hello and the traditional Senior Farewell. SOPHOMORE Y-TEEN officers relax by the coke machines. They are: Laurie Anderson, president; Jennitt Hiner vice- pres.; Carrie Kalina, secretary; and Cindy Peterson, treasurer 146
