Hi-Y membership is the largest this year of any year previous as the picture above indicates.

Third row: Bob Holcomb, Steve Wight, Bill Bradley, Jon Lindstrom, Fred Benken, and Jim Fryxell. Fourth row: Jim Teros, John Harland. Mike Shetter, Ron Cohn, Gary Schuster, Don Siegal, Bruce Andich, and Jon Holcomb. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society is one of the greatest honors awarded at Rock Island High School. The majority of the mem¬ bers are chosen automatically on the basis of a 92 or above average. Additional members are chosen from the Senior Honor Roll on the basis of service to the school, character, and leadership. The Class of 1962-63 is proud to have the largest Honor Society in Rocky ' s history with a total membership of eighty automatic and eight elected members. The members of the society are rewarded for their years of diligent study at the all school National Honor Society Assembly when they receive their membership pins and are officially inducted into the society. The Rotary Club sponsors a banquet for the members later in the year. 149

FROLIC, AND FELLOWSHIP FOR ROCKY B OYS The more members of Hi-Y, the merrier times to be had by all. C. The member of Hi-Y has an opportunity to participate in many worthwhile activities throughout the year. At each monthly meet¬ ing of Hi-Y there is a business session after which entertainment is provided. As a special service project each year, Hi-Y mem¬ bers entertain patients of East Moline State Hospital. A highlight of Hi-Y is the annual “camp out” held in the spring. Other ac¬ tivities of the organization include the spon¬ sorship of Y-Canteen held each Saturday night, the sponsorship of a Kiwanis Carnival Queen Candidate, and the organization of Lenten services in co-operation with the Y-Teens.
