STUDENT OPTIMISTS LEARN CIVIC DUTIES Student Optimists meets once a month at the Y.M.C.A. This club is composed of junior and senior boys chosen by Mr. Burch, sponsor of the club, who is assisted by the holdover members from the previous year. The club also has members from Alleman. Each meeting a different chairman pre¬ sides, and another member is respo nsi¬ ble for getting the after dinner speaker. The two main activities of the club are ushering at the annual " Holiday of Ice " and attending one basketball game at the University of Iowa. JUNIOR ROTARIANS ARE CHOSEN BY FACULTY Junior Rotarians are chosen by the faculty at the beginning of each semester, two for each month. To¬ taling eighteen, these senior boys are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and contributions to Rocky. The Junior Rotarians and Mr. Aus¬ tin, principal meet every Tuesday noon with the Senior Rotarian club. At these meetings they experience participation in civic affairs.
