138 EXCHANGE ASSEMBLIES, CONCERTS, CAROLING HIGHLIGHT SENIOR GLEE Under the direction of Murray J. Osborn, the seventy-six voice Rock Island Senior Glee Club meets one period a day to rehearse their various programs. The planning of these programs is carried on by the club ' s four officers. Chosen from members of the Glee Club, groups such as the Girls ' Trio, the Boys ' Quartet, and the sixteen-voice Chamber Choir add variety to the cho¬ rus and its programs. This year, as is the tradition, the Glee Club presented Rocky ' s exchange assemblies and participated in various R.I.H.S. assemblies. They also presented their annual Christmas Concert and sang carols in the halls. In the spring the Glee Club entertained at its Spring Concert. By coincidence this year ' s Boys ' Quortet and Senior Glee officers ore the same people. Gathering around the piano to listen to Marion Collins, President, are Van Kaiser, Treasurer; Joseph Viernow, Secretary; and Robert White, Vice-President, The Girls ' Trio, Janet Hazlett, Susan Savage, and Carole Bolyard, and their accompanist, Ann Kimmel, rehearse a number for an ex¬ change assembly. GIRLS ' GLEE CLUB Girls ' Glee is a class open to all junior and senior girls interested in music. Their director, Murray Osborn, trains the girls ' voices. During their class period they sing the scales, read musical notes, study phonet¬ ics, and practice breath control. They dis¬ play what they have learned at the Christmas and spring concerts and in some school as¬ semblies. Joining with the Senior Glee Club, they participate in the traditional caroling in the halls at Christmas time.
