Freshmen will remain in the auditorium for further instructions. Those are the first words any student will remember from his high school career. Awed freshmen way back in l94O waited to hear the rules and regulations governing students in R. T. f-l. S. Willard Haas gave us courage, and we came through the year wiser and happier. ln our Sophomore year the rules were old stuff, and we had everything under con- trol. Our class had several young hopefuls entering the three major extra-curriculcr activities: athletics, dramatics and music. Ioan Sheaff and Mary MacEachern proved their musical ability that year. The highlight of the year was the party we gave in honor of the freshmen. It was given in the corridor because the new gym was under construction. That year we also gave another successful party, thanks to the efforts cf our president, George Finkboner. We gave a Dame Dance in honor of our sponsor, Mrs. Burroughs, and Mrs. Haselton, both of whom had recently been married. Upper Classmen Was it possible? Yes, we were luniors, enjoying a busy and exciting year. Do you remember the Rochelle-Freeport game? lack Brennan saved the day in the last few seconds. Could it be that his favorite little gremlin pushed the ball over the rim? loan Sheaff had the lead in the annual lesters' play, Shiny Nose . lohn Carpenter led our Prom, the first one held in the new gym. The gym, which was beau- tifully decorated with roses by the Iuniors, presented a lovely setting for the dance. Miss McSweyn, our sponsor, deserves credit for her unfailing help. The last year in high school saw many changes in our class . . . several familiar faces were missing. George Finkboner, Elden Scheffers, Robert Blank, Charles Slifer, and Richard Erbes had all left to serve their country. During the victorious football season, Tom Boyle exhibited his skill and as a reward, he received honorable mention on the All-State Team. Bill Hayes was made honorary captain and was chosen as the most valuable player by his fellow team-mates. Albert Druker came out on top in the class elections. May we continue throughout life to overcome the gremlins which we have encount- ered during our high school career. But, more seriously, we pray that the education and experience we have had during these four brief years may help us in our future life and in the war effort, and we pray that our boys may return to our ranks soon in a world of peace. fl Z'
