il N IJ I! Brands! There is a man in our school who has left his trademark forever on R. H. S. Do you know him? Who saves a difficult situation with a jest? Who puts his whole self into everything he does? Who has brought us state-wide recognition by building up the Robs- town Relays? Coach J. B. Outlaw, of course! Robstown has memories of him that go back to seven years ago, but everyone in high school knew him as coach of the track team. It was that year that the Robstown Relays, which have made people wake up and take notice of R. H. S., began. Grads of his courses -- shorthand and bookkeeping -- now profit from the thorough training he gave, but we undergrads enjoy his clever wit, his jokes, and his unique ways of making a point clear and penetrating. Many are the stories we remember that prove his brand of fun -- how he entered the Nut Bowl Contest as Miss Sophisticate 1951 , how he makes short- hand drills of school yells, how he settled the argu- ment of the track boys about the length of the dash stripes. We laugh even now about those boys kneeling on the highway with the measuring tape. This year Mr. Outlaw won the Padre Island Walkathon with his pinwheel start and finish and won -- most important of all his prizes -- a red 1948 Ford convertible. Since he has branded us with the branding iron of his intelligence, and personality, we respond with a , and we dedicate our 1954 Cotton Picker to Coach j.B. Outlaw. 2 a ' I
