The knight promised his lord that he would be gallant, fearless, and loyal. He would shun treachery and caution and always be ready to risk death for his lord or companions. Love was also a part ot chivalry. In the same way today we, ot the West- ern civilization, practice the code of chivalry. We strive in this great democracy to be honorable and fair. We would willingly tight and die for our country and fellow- man as would have the gallant knights of many years ago. Xia. 9 , , S :-3' J G . i SA 1 3 ' :THU lkxx ' , 'I' .5 101. A top-notch speech de- partment provides for the actors and actresses of Lee High School. School spirit is best dis- played by the large stu- dent body at the football games. Many hours of hard labor went into the Lee Day floats and right in there following suit was the L Club. A ladies only affair, the Senior Girls' Tea in Sep- tember, provides an oc- casion to meet new stu- dents and renew old ac- quaintances. Q-4 Everyone looked forward to Mardi Gras and was held in suspense until these lovelies took the spotlight. Lee High, would like to express our gratitude for being able to participate as a part of this student body. Though we are very fortunate and proud to be the first graduating class to complete th ree full years at Lee, it is our highest hope that all future seniors will profit by our many experiences. There is not a happier feeling than that of being a senior. However, this thought makes us sad - to know that we entered school so many years ago to learn and that this education is coming to a tem- porary close, not because we shall not learn more but because we are leaving such a wonderful school, faculty, and student body No matter where we go, we shall always be proud to say we are graduates of Robert E. Lee. In our hearts we will always say: Lee High, to thee in joyous lay we pledge our stead- Lee High, we honor thee to-day as always we fast will. shall do. Good Citizenship Girl are dependability, service, leadership, honesty, a n d sincerity. We at Lee know that these qualifications could fit only one senior girl, Ellen Keldorph, D. A. R. Good Citizenship Girl for l958. Ellen's never ending faith in God has been an inspiration to her class- mates. Active in all phases of church worlc, she has gained the respect of both faculty and students. Her vivacious and energetic character has enabled her to be well qualified for the numerous honors bestowed upon her in the preceding years. For the past three years she has been presented in the Who's Who and in her senior year was elected a Favorite. Working on the school paper for the past two years she was named co-editor for i957-58. During Lee Day activities she was chosen by the senior class to be senior attendant to Miss Lee High. Interested in politics, Ellen was a main figure at Girl's State in l957, the event held at Huntingdon College. In her iunior year she acted as secretary-treasurer of the Student Council and this year continues to be active in the council by being a section representative. Ellen also presides over her homeroom club as president. For the past six years she has participated in the Gamma Phi Omega Tri-Hi-Y of which she served as president in i956-l957. These characteristics and achievements well qualify Ellen Keldorph for this honor. 11401 1 The Feature Staff of th e Scabbard wishes to thank Miss Lily Mae Caldwell of the Birmingham News for her assistance in get- ting Miss Emerson to select our Beauties for 1958.
