FOREIGN LANGUAGES The ambitious students in the French and German classes are always on hand to put some puzzled student straight on a foreign word or pronunciation. hThe Little Tailor and Baron Munchaussen are tales inter- preted by the foreign language students, and are familiar ligures to the devotees of continental speech. These legends provide hours of amusement and relieve the monotony of pronouns and genders. Under the guidance of Miss Mildred King, the language stu- dents have added to their English vocabulary the vernacular of other countries.

i I. Pictured in a typical conference are Mr. Cooper, superintendent, and Messrs. Mielke and Fisk, principals. Mt. Fisk controls junior high school activities, while Mr. Mielke arranges the senior high program. Mr. Cooper acts in the roleof adviser and mediator. 2. During the summer all thoughts of school are banished from the students' minds. While they are swimming, golfing, and playing tennis, the silent school is being reconditioned for another year. Painters, carpenters, and janitors brighten up the classrooms in preparation for school in the fall. 3. The back to school movement brings with it an endless procession of books and teachers. There is comradeship, too, meetings with old friends, something to while away days which have lately become long. Daily classes settle into a routine broken only by pep fests and football games. 4. Winter brings icy sidewalks and frost-bitten noses, but who thinks of it that way when a brisk hike is in the oiling? What can compare with the frigid tang of crisp air on a snowy morning? This is the season when work is heaped high but play is never forgotten. 5. In the spring, student fancy turns to thoughts of final exams. the Prom, and the Cotton Ball. Saying goodbye to classmates for three months of grand vacation is difficult. However, amid the excitement of graduation and while walking in the joyous daze which chirping robins and green buds never fail to bring, these unhappy thoughts fade into the background. ,3 i.- g E l
