LLASS PHUPHELY Gramer Wh1le clean1ng out my trunk lI was gettrng ready to take a tr1p around the Unrted Statesl I came across a dusty old book that looked very famxhar W1p1ng 1t off I recogn1zed the TORCH of 41 Eagerly I turned the pages My' what fond memor1es 1t brought back' I began wonderrng what my old class mates were dolng But smce I was due at the ha1rdresser s rn a few mlnutes I had to check my remrmscrng I really had to be there on t1me because the ha1rdresser was scud to be French and very fashlonable and so I dxdnt want to lose my appo1ntment I dressed hurrledly and then dashed over to the Flfth Avenue salon Imaglne my surpr1se when the owner who greeted me turned out to be Elljah Mosteller who had acquired a French name He took me through the shop and whom should I see but L1ll1an LeConey now an exclus1ve ha1rdresser ln the shop even though she had to stand on a stool to reach the customers I also ran 1nto Floss1e Frzzano demonstrat1ng cosmetlcs Wh1le wa1t1ng for my ha1r to dry I prcked up a magazme and openrng 1t at random I glanced at an ad to see none other than Iohn Salkowskl model for ha1r ads Leaflng through the magazme I recogn1zed another classmate ln the person of Dallas Paul showlng what the well dressed gentleman was wearlng B1dd1ng Ehlah goodbye and prom1s1ng to come back aga1n I hurr1ed from the shop and bumped 1nto a good look1ng man whom I recogn1zed as Walter Bewley now a man about town He suggested that we have d1nner and I was sorry to have to tell htm that I had another engagement He halled a tax1 and to my surprise the dr1ver was Henry Walter We began chattrng so merrlly that he forgot to put the tlag up on the meter fNot that I mmdedl He deposlted me at Longchamps where I was to meet a group of frlends My goodness' Who should usher me 1n but Charles Schmrd the stately doorman The warter turned out to be Ray Workman who mformed us that Charlotte Reeves and Cather1ne Smrth both happ1ly marr1ed had been 1n for lunch the precedlng day after one of the1r numerous club meetmgs After d1nner the group of us dec1ded to walk down Broadway We were stopped by a man selhng magaztnes to work h1s way through college It was Iohn W1ll At a stand on 42nd Street and Broadway we stopped to buy a newspaper The vendor was Herb Chamberla1n who proudly lnformed me that he had SIX b1cycle rrders worklng for h1m We then turned our steps toward a n1ght club When we arrxved W checked our wraps wrth the cute check g1rl W1nn1e Sexfert and then went 1nto the d1n1ng room As the walter was leadmg us to our table I spred D1ck McCorm1ck and Reynolds Edge at a table accompan1ed by two classmates of old Bernyce Bert and and Margaret Barr I stopped to exchange a few words w1th them and I learned that Reynolds was a candrdate for coroner and Rrchard was h1s campa1gn manager I wrshed Reynolds luck but he probably dldnt need 1t w1th DlCk as h1s manager Bernyce had 1ust f1n1shed a book on etrquette that was r1val1ng Emlly Post sl Margaret had the lead 1n a new Broadway play I left them and hurr1ed back to my table for the floor show was about to start and I drdnt want to m1ss any of 1t The master of ceremonres was 1ov1al Iames Ruehmlmg who hadnt changed a b1t smce 30 -1 1 .. . . 1 1 . . . . . . 1. . - 1 . . . .1 1 1 - 1 1 1 , . 1 1 1 , . 1 1 1 1 - 1 , . , . - 1 - 1 1 1 - 1 . ,e 1 1 - 1 1- , . . 1 - 1 . .. . 1 . - 1 .1 . . . .. . 1 .. 1
