Mr. RoberT W. Murphy was chosen To compleTe The unexpired Term of office creaTed by The de'aTh of Mr. Harry A. Bamford. The board was comprised oT seven public spiriTed ciTizens who meT The TirsT Tuesday oT every monTh To arrive aT equiT- able soluTions To The problems conTronT- ing The school. Among oTher duTies were Those oT proposing improvemenTs Tor The school, providing Tor needed classroom space, hiring Teachers oT ouTsTanding abil- iTy, and balancing R-B's complicaTed budg- eT. Theirs was The Tinal responsibiliTy in all ThaT aTTecTed R-B. Mr. BamTord, who had so ably and willingly served on The Board oT EducaTion Tor Ten years. was well lilced by all who knew him. Being a de- voTed, acTive, and hard worlcing individual, Mr. BamTord conTribuTed immeasurably To The beTTermenT oT R-B. He recognized The need Tor and Took a very acTive parT in The promoTion oT The plans Tor The con- sTrucTion oT The l953 building addiTion. ElecTed To The posiTion oT presidenT oT The board in I956, Mr. Bamford assumed The added duTy oT conducTing all The board meeTings. ln adcliTion To his service on The school board, Mr. Bamford was also acTive in church and communiTy aTTairs. His de- TerminaTion, energy, and drive would sug- gesT a person considerably younger Than his age oT TiTTy-nine years aT The Time oT his passing. HelpTul and Triendly To all, Mr. Bamford was a man oT ouTsTanding char- acTer and oT The highesT sTandards.
