Maine, a perennial powerhouse, was held to a 7-0 win. while York, the conference co-champion, was ahle to achieve only a narrow 6-O victory. Captain Al Kracht and Guard Ken Kasnicka were picked for the All-Conference team. Varsity coaches Mick Ewing and Nate Johnson are looking forward to next season with a group of juniors who showed good potential and who were steadily improv- ing during a season in which they met the strongest teams in the conference. ,, Y -tI1i?'5' 'nifiyll 1,45 gjigfg' Q ,Q ..+,. ef., , . if M' .aft ff. if 'f J'f v- wb! This year's spirited cage team was led through the sea- son by Coach Barney Dudley and Captain Jack Voyda. After winning their first game against West Chicago 71-4-6, the Bulldogs hit a losing streak that followed them all season. The result was a record of 14- losses and only 5 wins, although many of the games were lost by small mar- gins. Despite such defeats, the boys managed to play fast, hard ball at home and away. In the middle of the season the Bulldogs played in the Crystal Lake Tournament and were able to capture third place after being defeated by the strong Crystal Lake squad. In the Paris, Illinois, Tournament, R-B lost by nine points to a squad that was continually rated in the top fourteen in the state. At the regional tournament, held this year in R-B's new gym, the Bulldogs lost to Downers by two points in their most exciting game this season. Voyda, Rogeness, Nelson, Lang, and Cross. all of whom switched off at guard and forward positions, and center Dick Blank made up the core of the Bulldogs.
