Page 24 Flaherty, R. Kinnaird. The Seniors of 1949 Freshmen 1945-46 A new life was unfolding for us as the war had just ended and we were to enter high school. But in spite of our enthusi- asm we were just green freshies and the initiation into the hustle and bustle of high school life was almost too much for us. However, we eagerly entered into the many activities with the hope that we might win an Oscar, We unreeled our first social affair with the annual Fresh- man Frolic. Even as freshmen we began to look forward to the happenings of our sports world as this year the upperclass- men were District Champs in basketball, and we also had hopes. Bob Slinker was elected to the position of class president, Bob Bird as vice-presi- dent, Elma Mae Mauney as secretary, and Bob McClelland as treasurer. These offi- cers directed us through our stand-in year. Sophomores 'I946-47 Now we were sophomores and what proud and important creatures we were because we had put aside our green col- ors. This year we would be important actors in our own right. Seven of our class appeared in the cast of the operetta Bells of Beaujolois, five of our girls were elected to the Sharclub Senate, and four of us helped to place THE ROUSER in the First National Honor Rating again. With the S50 that we had earned as freshmen tor a successful magazine cam- paign we put on our own class party, The 49'ers Rush. We had made a good showing in the Citizens of Tomorrow broadcast and we produced a successful all-sophomore floor show for our party. Little Jack Hagan was our chosen leader with Dave Giuntoli, Barbara Ella- cott, and Bea Benda as his helpful assist- ants. Left to Right: F. Hajek, J. Hag n T
