PALMETTO BOYS' AND GIRLS' STATE A trip to the University of South Carolina, a tour of the State Capital, and a tea at the governor's mansion were -among the many adventures of Rivers' representative to Boy's and Girl's State. Nominated by our Principal, Mr. Weinheimer, Margarat Burbage, David Murray, and Brian Kill- ingsworth found this experience of much value in learning about the functions of city state and na tional government procedures Participating in governing bodies and attending a banquet at the Russell House were other hugh lights of this exciting and educational event CHRISTMAS PARADE REPRESENTATIVES Page One Hundred Four From a list of candidates, chosen by the Stu- dent Council, the student body selected Carleen Bunch and Kenny Rhea as the Rivers representa- tives in the Christmas Parade. The students chose Carleen and Kenny because they felt them outstand- ing seniors. Carleen and Kenny rode in a car decorated by the Civic committee and sponsored by the Student Council.

SPORTS GIRL Farley Clark was elected Sports Girl by the Stu- dent body in a contest sponsored by the Girls Athletic Association. As a result of Farley's interest and ability, she has received 400 sports activity points for her par- ticipation in volleyball, soccer, basketball, tennis, horseshoes, and swimming intramurals. This entitles her to a star at the end of the year. She has also been a member ofthe volleyball, soccer, basketball, and swimming varsities.
