MISS HI MISS Sue Schroeder, selected by the Faculty from a list of candidates nominated by the senior girls, was voted Miss Hi Miss for 1960. Being judged as the most outstanding senior girl in scholarship, leadership, and personal attractive- ness, gave Sue the honor of a week-end trip to Rock Hill and having her picture appear in the Johnsonian, the Winthrop College newspaper. KING TEEN On the basis of scholastic record, dependability, leadership, popularity, and personal appearance, Ernest Yatrelis was chosen by the Faculty and senior class to represent Rivers as our King Teen. This title, sponsored by the Wofford College news- paper, The Old Gold and Black, rewards Ernest, and other King Teens from all over the state with a really regal week-end at Wofford. PALMETTO BOYS' AND GIRLS' STATE A trip to the University of South Carolina, a tour of the State Capital, and a tea at the governor's mansion were -among the many adventures of Rivers' representative to Boy's and Girl's State. Nominated by our Principal, Mr. Weinheimer, Margarat Burbage, David Murray, and Brian Kill- ingsworth found this experience of much value in learning about the functions of city state and na tional government procedures Participating in governing bodies and attending a banquet at the Russell House were other hugh lights of this exciting and educational event CHRISTMAS PARADE REPRESENTATIVES Page One Hundred Four From a list of candidates, chosen by the Stu- dent Council, the student body selected Carleen Bunch and Kenny Rhea as the Rivers representa- tives in the Christmas Parade. The students chose Carleen and Kenny because they felt them outstand- ing seniors. Carleen and Kenny rode in a car decorated by the Civic committee and sponsored by the Student Council.
