We in the eighth grade class, with one year at Riverdale High School behind us, found it much easier to enter our second year of junior high school. We knew the school regulations and also knew just about every loop hole in them. We settled quickly into our routine and knew that this would be our last year of preparation before entering high school. The coming year would give us the privilege of choosing our classes, which would give us a choice of continuing music, or taking advanced math, science, foreign language, and commercial subjects. We enjoyed our class parties and other activi- ties. On the first day in the high school, we felt ab- solutely lost. All those big upperclassmen look- ing down at us, and, oh, the empty feeling in our stomachs vjhen we were to go to a strange room for a class. What if we were late? What would they do to us? We wonder what the up- perclassmen were laughing about. Didn ' t they ever go through this? Boy, were we glad when this day was over. The day ended and later it seemed much better. We became accustomed to changing class rooms with each class, learned the names of the teachers, planned two class parties, raised the money for them, and last, but not least, we took our place as part of Riverdale High School.
