Student Council Each Monday evening the students who were involved in Riverdale's Student Council met to discuss the school's activities such as Warrior Week, Football Homecoming, Basketball Homecoming, and Class Competition. Student Council provided a link between the student body, faculty, and administration to create a better working atmosphere. The traditions of school life were maintained through fund- raisers such as the collection of canned goods for the needy, the Wake-a-Thon for Musclar Dystrophy, and the Johnny Parsley Memorial Scholarship Fund. In addition, this year profits from the shaker sale benefited the Mexican families who suffered from the earthquakes. To become a member of the Student Council, a student must sign up for the office that he wishes to hold. The student must then have a petition signed by one hundred of his fellow classmates before elections are held in the spring. Each club also elects a representative to be a voting mem- ber of Student Council. Others wishing to be a work-on may sign on, too. Students earn points for every hour that they work. Members must maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout the school year. The club's sponsors are Mr. Michael Shew, Mr. Joe Bryant, Mrs. Judy Barnette.
