Girls' And Boys' Tennis Teams First year coach Mr. Steve Reese, inherited the Girls' and Boys' Tennis Teams, which bring with them a tradition of high quality students known for success in teams competition. The teams' winning records are unparalleled by any other athletic group in Rivers dale's history, l The girls' team is very competitive, losing only one district match in the past two seasons. The team takes pride in its strength, school leadership, and winning reputation. Last year they placed second in the district and third in the region, with a ten-year career record of 128 wins and 6 losses. ln district competition the squad has never finished less than second place. The team is led by three-year veteran Amy LaLance, who has been both singles and dou- bles champion. Carlson Collier- -sRanked 3rd in singles position and 24th in the stateg known for her quiet competitiveness. E 41.61. Swim Team Riverdale's Swim Team is a very dedicated and hard-working squad. Each afternoon after school, practice sessions were held to help the students improve their aquatic abilities. The team's season began in December and ended with the state meet at the University of Tennes' see during March. Although a young team with rel- atively inexperienced players, the group lost only one district match. The starting lineup included Clay Mi- chaels, Rick Kinard, Phil Clark, Chris Taylor, John Dietrich, and Mark Hardison. Clay Michaels - Has shared lst ranking with Rick Kinard for two yearsg 27th in the state Boys' 18's singlesg 7th in doubles.
