Rorc The Reserve Officer Training Corps is one of the largest organizations on cam- pus. The main goals of ROTC are to promote patriotism and citizenship, de- velop physical fitness, and foster leader- ship, self-reliance, and discipline. The benefits of ROTC are that some students will eventually receive scholarships and military appointments, possible advanced placement in college ROTC, and an ac- celerated rank if the cadet elects to join the military service. There are four im- portant groups in the program: the Color Guard, Drill Team, Orienteering Team, and Riverdale Rangers. One of the most important events for ROTC was the Annual Formal Inspection CAFD by an inspection team designated by the U.S. Army. Last year Riverdale's ROTC program was recognized for supe- rior performance in this activity and re- ceived the highest possible award for Ju- nior ROTC.
