Membership in this group is based upon audition. A big fea- ture of the band is its connection with the Riverdale Singers in the annual Spring Jazz Show. The 1985-86 Stage Band maintained 'the high standards of excel- lence that audiences have come to expect of this group. FI-IA Future Homemakers of America is an or- ganization functioning as an important part of the Home Economics curriculum. F.H.A. emphasizes personal growth, stressing val- ues clarification and decision-making, and also promotes leadership capabilities. This year the club visited Cheekwood to see the Trees of Christmas. They also went to Ethan Allen to look at furniture styles and the decorations for Christmas. A visit to Opry- land was an exciting excursion for the cub members in the spring. Sponsors of this or- ganization are Mrs. Linda Elam and Mrs. Pam Lynch. Organizationsf 149

GCE General Cooperative Education, GCE, trains stu- dents on the job through a cooperative relationship between area businesses and the school. The goal of this organization is for the members to become lead- ers in their chosen area of work and responsible citizens of the community, Mr. Duggin explained. Fund-raisers included the traditional button and jew- elry sales. The year's activities were highlighted by the employer-employee banquet and the state con- vention. GCE had a busy year preparing the students to become reliable adults and employees. , vw' rms f Officers-Row one: Bubba Davis, Jeanne Bonds, JoAnn Pope, Tami Luck, Laura Phillips, Tammy Allen, Pennie Al- corn, Debbie Norwood, Sharon Vance, f Carrie Casterline.
