The Riverdale High School Warrior Marching Band, directed by Ron Meers and Jon Bryan, perform regularly at football games and pep rallies. The band's performances were intensified by the outstanding color guard, which included the members of the flag and rifle corps. The band participated in many contests this year, including the Middle Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association CMTSBOAJ at MTSU, Southern Hospitality Classic at Vanderbilt, Mid-Field Con- test at Birmingham, Alabama, and the Contest of Champions at MTSU. The beautiful musical selections this year included 'iMa- carena, She's Out of My Life, MacArthur Park, and, 'il Can Wait Forever. These performances displayed the positive as- -cv 'pects of the total marching program, as well as provided crowd- pleasing entertainment. The band's success is the result of the spirit, discipline, atti- tude, and dedication of each member. Attendance at daily after- school rehearsals, other special practice sessions, and camp dur- ing the summer are examples of the hard work required. In addition, the band members were involved in several fund-raisers that ranged from two fruit sales to a wake-a-thon. The profits collected from these activities provided for instruments, equip- ment, and transportation costs, The band members' commitment to excellence is based on the goal, 'LTO make the good better, and the better best!
