Key Club Key Club, sponsored by the Stones River Kiwanis Club, is a prestigious organization. A male organization, Key Club members must meet the following requirements: receive recommendation by the faculty, maintain a 2.75 grade point aver- age, have good moral character, and display will- ingness to work in a service organization. Pros- pects are then voted on by the membership. Help- ing the members this year were the Key Club Sweethearts, who also provided a scrapbook as a memoirlof the year. Each year, members attend the Kentucky-Tennessee District Convention. At the 1985 convention, Ivie Burns was elected Lieu- tenant Governor of Division I of the Kentucky- Tennessee District. The organization is sponsored by Mr. Ivan Duggin, who stated, Key Club offers a unique opportunity for high school students to develop leadership, character, and service to oth- ers. Lance 8: Shield Lance and Shield is the class that pro- duces the yearbook. This course includes design, writing, and photography skills. Stu- dents also learn the responsibility of meeting deadlines, handling finances, and most im- portantly, pleasing the public. The students began last spring to plan the 1985-86 year- book. Staff members attended Josten's Spring Seminar at Belmont College and Summer Camp at M,T.S.U. to learn the newest and most effective techniques for production of a quality yearbook. While at camp, the staff was one of the five staffs that shared in the best overall competition. Be- sides attending these sessions, the staff also worked through the summer selling adver- tisements to merchants and for the first time, to parents of seniors. The four groups which work together to create the yearbook in- clude layout, copy, photography, and a new group added this year, computer. Yearbook advisors are Mrs. Charlotte Wright and Mrs. Francille Whitworth.
