One had fits, another talked baby talk, a third played the role of a holy terror. Sammie be- came a kleptomaniac, and Doris, having had an operation, harped on that. Agnes and Henry finally emerged victorious and the kids were ready to accept their new parents. The cast was as follows: Agnes Martyn, a widow, Betty Weir, Bob, her son, Rodney Dice, Marilee, her elder daughter, Peggy Walter, Gracie, her youngest daughter, Dorothy Osborn, Miss Lydia, her sister-in-law, Velma Lyon, Henry Turner, a widower, Jim Kirk, Doris, his daughter, MaryLou Cochran, Sammie, his son, Myron Armbruster, Begonia, the darky cook, Pat Shonk, Nicodemus, the colored handyrnan, Dennie Sparrow. Betty Lou, fifteen, even makes a reservation for her parents at an exclusive res- taurant. Dad arrives and, sure enough, he has completely forgotten. He is soon reminded when a multitude of flowers start arriving. Mrs. Maxwell is beside herself with joy. Connie, the eldest daughter, reads the cards on the flowers and finds a large bouquet addressed very lovingly to her mother and signed Dr. Gooch. When Mother has lunch with Dr. Gooch the following day, Connie tells the other children and they decide something must be done about the wolf. What they don't know is that Dr. Gooch is a lady doctor with whom their mother went to college. Now she and her husband Qwho is also named Dr. Goochj have suggested Mr. Maxwell for an important job on the board of directors of the local college. Meanwhile, Connie tells her father that their Mother has been stepping out with an unknown doctor.
