Gilead Caledonia Iberia 46 Caledonia New Bloomington Caledonia Claridon 32 Caledonia Nevada Caledonia Waldo 34 Caledonia Pleasant Caledonia Morral 20 Caledonia Green Camp Caledonia Martel 20 Caledonia Meeker Caledonia Harpster 46 Caledonia LaRue Caledonia Marengo 45 Caledonia Prospect The Caledonia Reserve basketball team had a very successful Season defeating fifteen opponents while only losing to one. The only setback of the season was at the hands of a tall Iberia quintet. Ervin Hunt and Gene Rice were the top scorers on the squad with 194 and 174 points respectively. On February 21, 1953, the reserve team was presented a trophy for first place in the reserve league, in which they were undefeated. The reserve team amassed a total of 753 points during the season for an average of 47.1 points per game while holding their opponents to 544 points or a 34 point average. 2 8 l

Gilead Caledonia 56 Waldo Caledonia New Bloomington Caledonia 45 Morral Caledonia Nevada Caledonia 60 Martel Caledonia Pleasant Caledonia 65 Harpster Caledonia Green Camp Caledonia 68 Marengo Caledonia Meeker Caledonia 82 Prospect Caledonia Tournament Games LaRue Caledonia 56 Morral Caledonia Meeker Caledonia 51 Green Camp Caledonia LaRue Caledonia '76 Prospect Caledonia The Caledonia Scot's Basketball team of 1952.-53 enjoyed a successful season with a league record of 7 wins and 3 losses. At one time Cal- edonia's league record was 6 straight wins. Their first defeat in league play was by Waldo who finished in first place in the league. The Donian's were led by Jim Kirk, center, who scored 180 points in league play for an average of 18 points per game. Another honor won by Kirk was a Sportsmanship Trophy awarded to him by the officials of the Marion County Tournament. Jim was also the only Marion County player to be unanimously chosen to the all county tournament team by the eleven Marion County coaches. 27

QND ROW: Darlene Cochran, Marion Newman, Tom Miracle,Bob Swisher, Kenny Witzel, Bill Hunt, Gary Chappell, Doug Cochran, Joyce Smith. 3RD ROW: Donald lerew, ,lim Longacre, Paul Hill, Melvin Bryant, Don Crissinger, Ralph Elliot, Bill Hurtt, Bill Detwiler. Caledonia 38 Claridon Caledonia 39 New Bloomington Caledonia 30 Pleasant Caledonia 46 Green Camp Caledonia 34 Grand Prairie Caledonia 42 Meeker Caledonia 38 Morral Caledonia 43 Prospect Caledonia 32 Waldo The Caledonia Junior High copped a tie for second place this year with Green Camp. The little Scots had an impressive record of seven wins and two defeats. The County Junior High Tournament is scheduled for March and everyone is hopeful that we might gain our third title. Ronnie Gist, Don Sherer, and Bob Detwiler led the Junior High squad in the point category. Ronnie Gist was high with 115, points, second was Don Sherer with 71, and third was Bob Detwiler with 70. We hope that the squad continues as successfully in future years as they have this year. 29
