Football Homecoming J. Springman And J. Robison Crowned 1. The football homecoming court consisted of seniors: Gilbert Vallejo, Jodi Springman, John Hoskins, Michelle Duffee, Ramon Uribe, and Tina Banks. Junior representatives Bill Handley and Tina Tenorio. Sophomore representatives Ron Paymaster and Shelly Szwedo, and freshmen representatives Tim Armes and Tina Bartley. R.F. Wins Homecoming On October 5, at halftime during our home- coming against Hammond Clark, Jodi Spring- man was crowned Homecoming Queen, and Jim Robison was named Mr. Football. Jim was also chosen Most Valuable Player by his foot- ball coaches. During spirit week students dressed up for western day, occupation day, punk day, and red and gold day. The seniors won the hall competition and float competition with the float slogan “Burn Em . The senior float con- sisted of a log cabin with a red background resembling a fire and the pioneers running away from the burning cabin. During the game, the Ingots were ahead of the Hammond Clark Pioneers all the way. By halftime, the score was 14-0. The Pioneers re- mained scoreless until the 4th quarter. The Ingots won the homecoming game with a score of 22-7. 5

Basketball Homecoming 1. Judy Cruz, escorted by Ramon Uribe, was chosen Miss Ingot Spirit. 2. Student Council President, Vince Pelfrey, presents the Mr. Basketball award to Mr. and Mrs. Verduzco. 3. The court for Miss Ingot Spirit included: Jim Henson, Vicky Baker, Jim Robison, Tina Banks, Ray Uribe, Judy Cruz, Tony Lewis, Michelle Duffee, Mark Hill and Kim Trusty. J. Cruz And D. Verduzco Receive Honors Ingots Beat M.C. 54-45; Students Show Spirit On February 1, Judy Cruz was voted Miss Ingot Spirit by the student body and David Verduzco was awarded Mr. Basketball during halftime festivities. The Ingots played against Michigan City Marquette and won by a score of 54-45. After the game, a dance to honor Miss Ingot Spirit and Mr. Basketball was held. During spirit week students dressed up for hat day, western day, sweats day, and red and gold day. A pep session was held and it was announced that the seniors won the hallway competition. Turnabout And Other Dances Were Successful And Fun For All The Ingot Room twinkled like stars as students found themselves surrounded by the sights and sounds of city night life. The theme was All Night Long . The room was decorated with city decor, in- cluding tall buildings and lots of lights. The turnabout dance, a very special occasion, is the time a girl asks a boy to be her escort. This year ' s dance was a little different from previous years. Instead of having a band play the music, as was done in the past, disc jockey Charles Cimons spun records and acted as Master of Ceremonies. Forty couples paid $10.00 a ticket to attend the Feb- ruary 23rd dance. Pictures by Midstates Photography were taken for a lasting memory. Along with the Turnabout, several other dances were held by both the high school and Jr. High. There were Homecoming dances, Sock Hops, a King and Queen dance, and a Halloween dance. These dances were sponsored by the high school Student Council, the Jr. High Student Council, the Senior Class and the Freshmen Class respectively. Some of the dances were fund raisers while others were entertainment for stu- dents. In the past, choice bands were usually used, but this year DJ ' s seemed to be the more popular choice. Two DJ ' s were hired for the homecoming dances and Mrs. Rieck acted as DJ for the Sock Hop. At all of the dances, the students danced to the top 40 songs, in- cluding All I Need by Jack Wagoner, Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cindi Lauper and Like a Vir- gin by Madonna.
