CLASS HISTORY In 1947 we found for the f1rst t1me ourselves 1n the b1g bu1ld mg There were 78 of us d1v1ded 1nto two sect1ons Mrs Ball1ng and Mrs Potter were homeroom adv1sors Our class was the f1rst to have Core The awards Scholast1c Donald McGrady Act1v1ty Joyce MacCauley Athletlc Henry Hammer Mrs Ball1ng and Mr Lucansky were adv1sors of the two sec tmons of the e1ghth grade To a tour through Conow1ngo Power Plant The awards Scholast1c Donald McGrady Janet Reed Joyce Mac Cauley and Jane L1pp1ncott Act1v1ty Neysa McCoy Athlet1c Henry Hammer N1nth grade was d1v1ded by courses general and academ1c Mrs Dunbar and Mlss Nutter were advlsors Outstand1ng act1v1t1es th1s year were the Holly Hop and the operetta starrmg Janet Reed Robert Marshall and Ronald Graybeal The awards Scholast1c Donald McGrady Joyce MacCauley ACt1V1tY Ronald Graybeal Athlet1c Betty MacCauley In tenth grade many of us took advantage of the commercnal course Mrs Dunbar was our adv1sor We opened a teen age can teen We went to Balt1more for dlnner and a movle The awards Scholastmc Donald McGrady and Joyce MacCau1ey Act1v1ty Ronald Graybeal Athletlc Clyde Brammer We started the eleventh grade 1n an ent1rely d1fferent envmron ment The new school was opened th1s year The eleventh and twelth grades of Calvert and R1S1ng Sun were comb1ned As ac t1V1t1CS th1s year we had the trad1t1onal Halloween Party whlch the Jun1ors gave the Senlors We had a class tr1p to Wllllamsburg V1rg1n1a Thls w1ll be long remembered by many of us Not only d1d we see many h1stor1cal smtes but we had a wonderful two day V1S1t We had the f1rst Varslty Ball Isabelle England was crowned Queen and Robert Marshall was crowned Klng We completed the year wlth a Jun1or Sen1or Prom whxch proved to be a tremendous success The awards Scholast1c Donald McGrady Act1v1ty Doug las Johnson and Athlet1c Isabelle England and Roby Brown Wag HCI' Our twelth year gave us the f1rst Wxnter Carn1val Ball Joyce MacCauley was crowned Queen and was presented a bouquet of flowers We had a tr1p to Washmgton to 1nspect the act1ons of our Congressmen In March we presented our class play Double Door The grand f1nale to our Sen1or year was the Jumor Sen1or Prom 14 9 1 ' . , I . . . .
