Goody, now we can eaf the pies, Yummylll The pies were good and almosf everyone enjoyed fhe raffle. Especially those who won pies. Jeepers, look whai's nexl' - a parfy: and fo make it even beffer, i+'s an ice cream feed, sounds good, huh? And it was good. Everyone ate so much fhey thought fhey would never eat again, but fhaf didn'+ last. They do eaf again, and rumors are thaf fhey eat like elephants lor is fha saying pigs ?l Anyway, the eleghants are bigger so fhey should ea+ more - or should they? Waif, Whaf's happening? Oh, i+'s the froup. Here they come! Look who's leading - Croce Migliore and Florence Lial ,fhe firsf and second semesfer presi- dents, followed by fhe resl' of fheir officers: Delores Wassink, Mary Ellen Hargrove, Carla Hansen, Sadie Mae Williams, Darlene Osfini, and Clarence Praft. All in fheir gayest mood, of course, and ready for fhe fun. Hail! Hail! The gang's all here! And 'lhe show is on .... BLOCK R The Block R society, an organizafion of clowns consisting of boys who have earned a large block R by earning five small R's or by playing in 40 f,, of the quarfers or in- nings in varsity compefition or making I5 poinfs in frack which are fhe main feafures in our three ring circus, started off fhe school year by electing the following officers: Pres., Joe Sanchez, V. P., Bill Shirlevg Sec-treas.. John Demichelis. Af fhe fime of this wrifing, second semesfer officers had nof yel' been elecfed. The firsf semester, fhe Block R soonsored a very successful dance after 'lhe Es- calon game. During 'rhe second semesfer, they gave a big chicken feed af which everyone attending had a good time and p'enty fo eat. Head frainers for fhe year were Croce Migliore, Pres.: Carla Hansen, Sec.-freas.g Rufh Sanford, Rufh Borr, Publicify Manager. Class represenfafives were: Seniors, Sadie Williams, Rufh Sanford, Joe Bodesong Juniors, Rufh Borr, Carla Hansen: Sophomores. Lenna Phillips, Larry Poynorg Freshman, Floyd Brooks, Gayl Carlson. These same frainers also presided over fhe San Joaquin Counfy Council Meefings. We regularly affended fhe Counfy meefings wifh clowns Paul Barkley and Don Toombs accompanying fhe group. The performances for fhe year were Slave Day led by Joe Bodeson. We in- froduced a fop performance af fhe combinafion Folk and Social Dance for fhe Sfudenf Body. In order fo help our counfy council meefings we drew up a consfifufion fo clarify fhe laws. Trainer Rufh Borr helped fo puf ouf a successful Jr. Jeep for fhe council. Our froupu came in second for collecfing five hundred pockef books for 'lhe service- men. G. A. A. The Girls' Afhlefic Associafion had anofher profifable year under fhe manage- menf of Pres. Sarah Adams, V. pres., Wanda Whifmore, and Sec-freas., Sadie Williams. Sarah Adams lefl' us during fhe firsf semesfer fo join up wifh a Los Angeles company and was replaced by Wanda Whifmore. Second semesfer sfocli were Carla Hansen, Pres.: Dorline Osfini, V.P.g and Josie Esfeves, Sec.-+reas. Sadie Williams ac- cepfed posifion as score keeper. Adiser Miss Jacol did a fine iob of supervising our sfunfs. We sfarfed fhe year off wifh a bang by giving a cake raffle fo raise money for fhe Big Show of fhe year - The Foofball Banquef - which was scheduled for Decem- ber 7. As usual, if furned ouf fo be a huge success. The big evenf of fhe spring was a very enioyable dinner and show which we fook in wifh 'rhe Commercial Club. Enfrance fee fo fhe G.A.A. is ISO poinfs which can be earned b sfarring on 'reams or acfing as an official for infer-class games.
