Firsl, a lheme musl be chosen, and lhe book musl be planned. Then comes lhe mad rush - piclures, hundreds of lhem, and arlicles ol every kind. The arlicles have lo be prooled, lyped, and prepared lor lhe prinler. ll's really one mad rush. We survived, lhough, and liked il prelly well. This year Mary Furlado was lhe edilor, while Rulh Borr and Alberla Marsman were assislanl edilors. Bill Vander Laan was lhe business manager and Croce Mig- liore assisled him. Wanda Whilmore served as slall secrelary. Class represenlalives lhis year were: Senior, Sadie Mae Williams: Junior, Janel Owens: Sophomore, Susan Vander Laan: and Freshman, Floyd Brooks. The remainder ol lhe slall consislefd ol Millie Brooks, Larry Povnor, and Ted Barkley. This was really quile a crew and lhe work was prelly well divided. Mr. Arganbrighl, our adviser, was quile helplul. Oh! Somelhing new was added lhis year. Mrs. Garlman assisl- ed in lhe preparalion ol lhe arlicles, and in planning lhe lheme. We have really enioyed compiling lhis, and we hope you have as good a lime reading and looking al il. So, here is lhe book we, lhe I95I Mission slall, have pul logelher lor you. Florence Lial: 2nd Period: Belly Grasso, Rulh Borr, and Janel Owens: 3rd Period: Dorline Oslini, Belly Grasso, and Nancy Dorroh: 4lh Period: Dorolhy Marlini and Delores Wassink: Slh Period: Sylvia Ann Marly: 6lh Period: Joan Vieira and Yvonne Demichelis: 7lh Period: Tina Van laar and Lenna Phillips: 8lh Period: Belly Grasso, Darlene Long, Mary Ann Bussing and Ann Phillips. The librarians are appoinled by Mrs. Beacom lhrough lhe English deparlmenl. Al lhe end ol lhe year lhree awards are given, one lor lhe head librarian, and lwo lor lhe oulslanding senior girls. The girls who received lhe awards lhis year are Belly Grasso, Darlene Long, and Mary Lou Rackley. These girls have really worked hard lo make lhe library a success, as has lhe whole slall who has given up ils slucly periods lo this service. The girls have accomplished a lol lhis year by learning lo check books, lo mainlain an orderly almosphere, and lo keep library shelves slacked for service. Wilhoul lheir cooperalion lhe library would nol have been a success.

The biggesf side show under lhe big lop is +he Girls' League. The new boss lhis year was Miss Florence Hillis. The slraw bosses were Mary Furlado, Pres., Sarah Adams, V-Pres., who was laler replaced by Groce Migliore: Joan Toombs, Sec.- lreas., who was also laler replaced by Josie Esleves. Our Hislorian was Darlene Long, Parliamenlarian, Sadie Williams, and publicily, Delores Wassink. Edna Vincelel and Kalhleen Nicolaysen were elecled congressmen. As usual, lhe mosl imporlanl ring evenl was lhe annual Molher-Daughler Desserl. Everyone said if was a greal' success, and lhal was because of lhe hard- working commillees we had. Delores Wassink was responsible for lhe allraclive room decoralions, while Louise Vander Laan did a 'lerrific iob on invilalions and poslers. Excellenl enlerlainmenl was furnished 'lhrough our enlerlainmenl' commillee, Josie Esleves and Croce Migliore. Edna Vincelel and Darlene Long were in charge of lhe menu planning. I+ wasn'l' hard for Mary Furlado lo 'find boys willing lo serve. Rulh Borr and Kalhleen Nicolaysen decoraled lhe 'fables and had charge of lhe place sellings. DEBATE The debale season slarled wi+h a bang when Gaynl Slouffer and Dolores Wass- ink won +he S+. lgnalious novice lournamenl. The San Francisco Ci+y College Tourney rolled around, and Dwighl Nyquisl broughl home a lrophy for lhe afler-dinner speaking. Sharon Mulholand and Jerry Slanley look fhird in senior debale. Dwighl also received a fourlh place in exlemp oul of 64 speakers. We nelled 'lwo lrophies in lhe Oakland lournamenl. Croce Migliore and Doris Ann Kovak ballled lheir way 'ro a second place in senior debale. Janel Owens look a second in Girls' Radio. Ripon really wenl 'ro 'rown in Modeslo. Jerry won second place in Progressive Discussion, and lhree of our leams 'lied for firsl place in senior debale. This lasl 'Teal was quile unusual, bul we did il! The reams, which were 'four- man, consisled of ll Janel and Jerry, Sharon and Dwighlg 21 Louise and Susan Vander Laan, Doris Ann and Croce, 31 Delores and Gaynl, Ed l-lollrusl and Florence Lial. We also look lhe Debale Sweeps'l'alfes lrophy. The famous Fresno lourney came nexl. ll's famous nol only because Sharon and Susan, Gaynl and Louise lied for second in junior debale, bul also because we lefl' a+ 5:30 Salurday morning and gol home al 3:00 Sunday morning.
