The head waler- buckel boys for lhe lirsl' semesler were Ernie Silveira, pres., Bud Van Nieuwenhuizeh, v.p.g Slan Chancellor, lreasq Gayl Carlson, sec.: Floyd Brooks and Theodore Arellano, Congress represenlalive. For lhe second semesler our slrawbosses were Helena Boer, pres., Mary Sanford, v.p.g Mary Ann Bussing, sec.: and Ronnie Logan, lreas. During 'lhe open season we managed T0 gel lhe rinqmaslers lo allow us lo sell candy, hol'-dogs, elc. On 'lhis big business venlure we managed 'lo clear around filleen bucks. The big wheels bossing our work in lhis and all olher evenls were Miss Jacol and Mr. Melz. The dough we gol from his evenl we plan lo use lo pul on bigger and beller shows, and also for lhe big J-S parly which comes off in our lhird year under lhe Big Top. As we go on mlo lhe nice spring, we have a dance and weiner roasl in mind. ln lhe lnler-crew lrack and field we had lough luck by geH'ing lasl place, buf iusl wail unfil we become sourdoughs al lhis business-lhen we'll show 'emll As for amusemenl, 'lhe sophomores gave us our lirsl' welcome by 'lhrowing a shindig called Freshman-Sophomore Brawl. We really had loads of fun. The class skimmed righf along from lhe very beginning of fhe year. We had an olecfion of officers af fhe firsl class meefing. Those elecfed were: Sharon Mulholand, pres.: Clarence Pralf, v. p., Donna Easfburg, sec.: Elsie Franscella, frees.: and Emily Townsend, hisforian. The second semesfer officers were: Paul Barkley, pres., Elsie Fransrtclla, v.p.g Susan Vander Laan, sec., and Paf S+. John, lreas. The lwo we senf fo represenl us in congress were Jerry McClinlon and Dick Kirk- pafrick. When Dick moved, wo elecfccl Mike Enos 'lo lake his place. Mrs. Garfman and Mr. Kingerv were our very pafienf advisers. Our class as a whole engaged in numerous exlra acfivifies. Lasf year we weren'f permilled fo do so very much, buf lhis year we really cuf loose. We were allowed fo sponsor our firsl dance. The fhemo selecfed was Cherry Twirl . Louise Vander Laan was appoinfed head of fhe decora+ion commilfee. All fhe commiffeles really pifched in and worked. The dance was a big success. We are now looking forward fo sponsoring our nexf dance. Also, fhe class appoinfed several differenf commilfees fo sell candy, hol dogs, pop, and coffee af a few games and lrack evenfs. Affer each sale we added fidy liffle sums lo our freasury. Lasf year, when we were freshmen, fhe sophomore class invifed us fo a parl'y 'rhaf was sorl' of a Frosh'Soph Gel Acquainl'ed parfy. This year we gave a similar parfy for fhe freshmen class. ll was held in fhe gym. We served refreshmenfs and played games including guessing games, volleyball, baskefball, and pingpong. The brawl , as we called if, was enjoyed bv bofh classes. Also, we had a parfy of our own fhis year. We decided we wanfed somefhing inexpensive, because we were saving our funds for nexl year's prom. Sylvia Rackley, Nancy Dorroh, and Roger Wendorff were in charge of various phases of 'lhe parly. We had a pof-luck dinner, afler which we had seven kinds of fun wifh lhe enler- fainmenf Roger had planned. This year many of our boys compefed in fhe infer-class frack meef. The sophs fook second place. We're geffinq beffer all fhe fime. Jusf waif '+il nexf yearl This year has been prefly swell. Oh, yes, we all worked hard, buf we had a lof of fun, foo.
