The juniors have laken lheir places rhis year on 'rhe cons+ruc'rion crew. Building lhe Big Top, represenled by our Prom, was our biggesl assignmenl of fhe year. Before lhe Big Top was raised, we had +o compleie a loundafion - mainly referring lo enlarging our freasury. Whai a iob. Someone had +o supervise lhe iob, so, along wiih our advisers, Mrs. Tornell and Mr. Azeve:lo, our class officers were, 'iirsl semesicrz Pres. Jane+ Owens, V. Pres. Hol- irusf, Scc.'Treas. Dolores Wassink. Second semcsfer Janel' was reelecfed 'io her office, Clarence McMurry was chief assis+an+, and Rufh Borr look +he job of secre- fary. Congressmen were Florence Lial and Bob Roome. We kicked up qui+e a bil of sawdusf al' lhe iunior-sponsored Clown Town dance afler lhe Escalon foolball game. A S50 proiif isn r io be forgollen eilher. The saw- dusf was pre++y +hick a+ fhe Hearf Hop affer +he Linden game loo. This was also sponsored by l'he iuniors. Ano'I'her proiecl' was rafflinq a puppy. Yes, il sounds crazy, and if was! A cu'I'e, fuzzy, li'Hle puppy, was donaled for lhe cause by Elaine Demichelis. A good crew can always ealg and from rhe way 1'ha+ lhe box lunches and candy sales weni, one could safely guess 'lhal fhe Ripon crew is good - and hungry. Ed is s'rill rrying +o pay back +ha+ 52.50 he spenl on BeHy's lunch. Also rhe crew +ook 'rime ou'r +o enioy a Junior Review presenfed in March. Finally our junior crew gave up and had a big rip-roaring ska+ing par+y in S+ock+on. Then came our biq day in May. I+ was fime To raise +he Big Top and begin lhe show. Everyone worked doubly hard, and oul of all our efforls came +he Prom. The members of a'l +he crews, +he ringmasler, and everyone danced, ale, enjoyed movies 'io lheir hearls conienl. We really had loads of fun. The class skimmed righf along from lhe very beginning of fhe year. We had an olecfion of officers af fhe firsl class meefing. Those elecfed were: Sharon Mulholand, pres.: Clarence Pralf, v. p., Donna Easfburg, sec.: Elsie Franscella, frees.: and Emily Townsend, hisforian. The second semesfer officers were: Paul Barkley, pres., Elsie Fransrtclla, v.p.g Susan Vander Laan, sec., and Paf S+. John, lreas. The lwo we senf fo represenl us in congress were Jerry McClinlon and Dick Kirk- pafrick. When Dick moved, wo elecfccl Mike Enos 'lo lake his place. Mrs. Garfman and Mr. Kingerv were our very pafienf advisers. Our class as a whole engaged in numerous exlra acfivifies. Lasf year we weren'f permilled fo do so very much, buf lhis year we really cuf loose. We were allowed fo sponsor our firsl dance. The fhemo selecfed was Cherry Twirl . Louise Vander Laan was appoinfed head of fhe decora+ion commilfee. All fhe commiffeles really pifched in and worked. The dance was a big success. We are now looking forward fo sponsoring our nexf dance. Also, fhe class appoinfed several differenf commilfees fo sell candy, hol dogs, pop, and coffee af a few games and lrack evenfs. Affer each sale we added fidy liffle sums lo our freasury. Lasf year, when we were freshmen, fhe sophomore class invifed us fo a parl'y 'rhaf was sorl' of a Frosh'Soph Gel Acquainl'ed parfy. This year we gave a similar parfy for fhe freshmen class. ll was held in fhe gym. We served refreshmenfs and played games including guessing games, volleyball, baskefball, and pingpong. The brawl , as we called if, was enjoyed bv bofh classes. Also, we had a parfy of our own fhis year. We decided we wanfed somefhing inexpensive, because we were saving our funds for nexl year's prom. Sylvia Rackley, Nancy Dorroh, and Roger Wendorff were in charge of various phases of 'lhe parly. We had a pof-luck dinner, afler which we had seven kinds of fun wifh lhe enler- fainmenf Roger had planned. This year many of our boys compefed in fhe infer-class frack meef.
