As lhe highlighf of ihis year's acliviiies for 'fhe Girls' League, 'rhe Moiher-Daughier Banquef was held in April. li proved 'ro be a delighlful affair lo all who aiiended. For fhe mosl pari, however, ihe course of evenis followed was ihe same as in pre- vious years. The Annual Backward Pariy, held in December, was a huge success. The League held many success- ful and proiiiable sales and cake raiiles ihroughouf ihe year. The officers for lhe year included: Marcella Hul- holancl, presidenl: Elizabelh Terheyden, vice-presi- denlg Lavola Bussing, secreiary-ireasurer: Ani'l'a iviarsman, hisiorian. All are anxious To begin work on The year- book, which is The highlighr oT every school year. The Mission sTaTT oT I948 was no excepTion. The whole sTaTT was ready and waiTing The day picTures were scheduled To be Taken. All were ready and waiTing, Too, Tor The clay To come when The Theme oT The I948 Mission would be chosen, so ThaT arTicles and all oTher work could begin. Finally our book slowly began To Take shape. ArTicles were wriTTen, Then re-wriTTen. PicTures were Taken. Then re-Taken. Everyone was busy in The prep- araTion oT The annual ThaT we hoped would be bigger and beTTer Than ever. lT was work. There is no deny- ing ThaT. ProoTreaders were burdened wiTh many arTicles To be correcTed. Deadlines had To be meT. AdverTisemenTs had To be secured, and candid shoTs snapped. More help was needed. and Jo Anne SlaTe was draTTed To serve in a new posiTion. ThaT of copy ediTor. BuT wiTh all The work The sTaTf Tound a greaT deal oT pleasure in The publishing oT The book. This was To be our own year, and our own book. Under The supervision oT Mr. ArganbrighT and The ediTor- ship oT Bud PicheTTo, our book progressed unTil iT is whaT we presenT To you now. To us. iT is a symbol oT our labors To look back upon in TuTure years. hlnfzwhanp, The Journalism Class, under The supervision OT Mr. ArganbrighT, publishes The school paper, The Ripon l-li Warwhoop. As a recognized acTiviTy. The sTaTT is enTiTled To represenTaTion in Congress. Dallas Shoe- maker was elecTed To serve in ThaT capaciTy. The elecTric mimeograph machine, purchased This year, Tended greaTly To minimize Time and labor spenT in puTTing ouT The paper. The sTudenTs' co- operaTion was also a valuable asseT in The beTTer- menT oT The Warwhoop. One of The club's TirsT acTiviTies was an alumni dance, held in The sTudy hall. This proved To be one of The early successes oT The year's social evenTs. In February The club made a Trip To San Francisco To go Through some of The larger business houses. One gay nighT was spenT aT The l-loTel Mark Hopkins. During The year.
