ff , Gapfauz 's og U QSENIOR CLASS HISTORYJ Our voyage started September 4, 1954, when we, 140 green freshmen, left port. During the first few days at sea, we elected Buddy Buckalew as class President, James Clendenin, Vice President, and Kermit Slater, Secretary-Treasurer. We selected green and grey as our class colors which we used to decor- ate our Homecoming car. Our attendant to Miss Viking was Judy Parsons, who was also the only freshman majorette. Besides Judy, there were fourteen other freshmen in the band. Brenda Starcher was chosen cheer- leader, and several of t.he boys in our class were active in sports. September of 1955 found us continuing our journey, now sophomores. Kermit Slater was elected President, Buddy Buckalew was Vice President, and Anthony Perkins was Secretary-Treasurer. Janie Parsons was selected as our attendant to Miss Viking, and we changed our class colors to pink and black. Our class float won third place in the Homecoming Parade. This year our class sold paper in order to earn money to finance the Junior-Senior Banquet in 1957. Joan Kidd was chosen majorette, and Patty Skidmore and Joyce Randolph were elected cheerleaders. Brenda Starcher was selected Sectional All-Tournament Cheerleader. September of 1956! We're half-way towards the end of our journey. This year our class President was Fred Hammack, Vice President was Judy Parsons, Secretary was Nancy Parsons, and Ronald Donohew was Treasurer. Rigby Guiney and Jackie Whitman were chosen the new majorettes, and Charlene Skeen was selected cheerleader. Patty Reynolds was our attendant to Miss Viking's Court and our representatives to Know Your State Government Day were Wilma Vlfheeler and Kermit Slater. Our Junior-Senior Banquet, which was a huge success, was financed by our candy sales and the Junior Variety Show. 1958! We have finally reached the end of our journey. Our class officers this year were: ChI'iS Winters, President, Ellen Skidmore, Secretary, and Ronald Donohew, Treasurer. We had six members on our newly formed Student Council. Patty Skidmore was President, Nancy Parsons was one of the three Vice Presidents, and Janet Donohew was Treasurer. Our homeroom representatives, who were also our class Vice Presidents, were Imogene Jones, Jackie Whitman, and Lavonne Litton. Wilma Wheeler was elected Miss Viking having as her senior attendants, Rigby Guiney and Judy Parsons. Our new majorette was Nancy Parsons while Judy Parsons was head majorette and Rigby Guiney was majorette drill sergeant. Lenora Lee Casto was elected as a cheerleader and Patty Skidmore was head cheerleader. We are very proud indeed of the senior boys who have participated in sports and who have done such a wonderful job all through high school. Thanks to Bill Winter and Buddy Buckalew, football captains, we have really had a wonderful year. Another thing of which our class of '58,is proud, is the water cooler which we donated to the high school, we have hoped that this contribution will be the beginning of a project to be carried out through the years by the various senior classes. Now that we have reached the end of our journey, we wish to thank our sponsors, Mrs. Marion Parsons, Mrs. Mildred Reynolds, and Miss Alma Ayers, who have worked with us and helped us so much. We have tried to make our class one that will always be remembered with pride throughout the years. 18
