a gfzsfory Seniors of l957' We have reached the final step in our high school career Soon we will be graduates of Ripley High School We are proud of our class that has achieved so much during these past four years In the Fall of 1953 we entered R H S as ambitious freshman with an enrollment of 129 Our home room presidents were Carol Currey, Zallthea Counts Buddy joe Sm1th and Micheal Hall Janice Randolph represented us in the homecomlng as freshman princess Our contributions to the cheering section were Carolyn Boggess and Zalithea Counts Maroon and gold were chosen for class colors Gladys Parsons was selected from our class to be a majorette in the Viking Band As Sophomores we elected Ronald Chapman President, Carol Currey Vice President and Rhondda Harmon Secretary Our attendant to Miss Viking was pretty Louella Jones One of the main events of the year was our Valentine party jolly juniors' This was one of our happiest and busiest years The officers for this year were Roderick Harless President Nolan Samples Vice Pres1dent Rhondda Harmon Secretary, and Ronald Chap man, Treasurer Our class colors were changed to red and gray Another cheerleader and a majorette were chosen from our junior class jo lvhller and Peggy Lanham We elected Rhondda Harmon as homecoming princess Eugene Slater and Marilyn Miller went to t.he Know Your State Government Day at Charleston Kenny Parsons was named on the All State football team Named on t.he L K All Conference team were Eugene Slater and Kenny Parsons To raise funds for the junior Senior Banquet we sold candy during the there were three main scenes a Perslan scene an Easter parade and t.he grand f1nale wedding scene The last project we undertook durlng the year was t.he annual IUDIOI' Senior Banquet, which was held at the FFA FHA Camp The theme of the banquet was Stalrway to the Stars Now we are in our Senior year Rod Harless was re elected as president Eugene Slater was elected vice presldent Janice Anderson secretary, and Rhondda Harmon treasurer We were very proud of our three lovely senior princesses in the homecoming, Linda Fisher jo Ann Miller and Rhondda Harmon, and also to have Rhondda Harmon represent our school as Miss Viking of 1957 There were fourteen foot ball heroes from the Senior class Rod Harless and Kenny Parsons were named on the All Conference team and Kenny was again named on the All State football team Gladys Parsons was selected to lead the Viking Band as head majorette Anew addltion to the majorette corps this year was Marilyn Miller We have nine members of the Semor class participating n the band As graduation time nears our hearts are filled with many fond memories of high school days We will always cherish the halls of our alma mater To our principal Mr Morley Parsons the faculty and our senior sponsors Mrs Johnston Mrs Riley and Mr Raymond Parsons we wish to express our sincere thanks for the kindness co operatlon and patience they have shown us throughout our years at Ripley High 20 Y 0 . , :I 1 n .
