C LA SS HISTORIES IUINIORS Juniors' The ma ical word that will always strike a response in the Class of 1954 For our junior year was more fun than a circus which incidentally was the theme of our Variety Show As green freshmen we were the first Freshman class to enter our new high school building in 1949 With an enrollment of approximately 140 students we had one of the largest classes ever to enter Rrpley High School We chose Rosalie Exans Max Crum and Sue King for our class officers and our sponsors were and still are Mrs Marion Parsons Mr Frank Jarrett and Mr Raymond Parsons Brown and vellow were selected to be our class colors Sue King anc Faye Miller were elected cheer leaders durlng this year and our representatives to the Stu dent Council were Patty Cox Judy Kerwood and Bill O Brien We entered our Sophomore year feeling that we had become an intricate part of the school system Our class officers were Bob Hutton Judy Kerwood and Sue King We sold scarfs brllfords paper and pencils in order to raise funds for the Junior Senior Banquet whlch we must finance in 1953 Patty Cox Faye Miller and Donald Ray McNew represented us in the Student Council and our candidates for the Mr and Miss Viking contest were Max Crum and Shirley Corbin We are now Jolly Juniors possessed with the determination to make ours the best class ever Our class of ficers are President Max Crum Vrce president Judy Kerwood Secretary and Treasurer Dan Casto The high lights of this year were our Junior Variety Show and our Junior Senior Banquet Our class is well represented by having a large magor ty of boys participating in athletics several students in the Ripley Viking Band and one majorette Ada Grace Karr Thus we have completed three milestones along the road to a high school education The Class of 1954 IS looking forward to an even greater year as Seniors of dear old Ripley I-hgh Sophomores We re on the second row now Yes we re Sophomores We started our Freshmen year Wlfh an enrollment of 122 We chose for our class officers president Jack Student Council were Roger Parsons Nancy Thomas Deloris Fisher Charles Pierson and Carolyn Harpold W elected as our candidates for Mr and Miss Viking Gary Skeen and Geneal Pau h We chose for our class colors purple and gold Our contributions to the cheerleaders were Geneal Paugh an Carolyn Harpold We were very fortunate to draw for our sponsors Mr Morley Parsons Mrs Rrley Miss Woofter and Mr Laughlin This year we elected as our class officers Charles Bailey president Peachie Staats vice president Geneal Paugh secretary and Pat Miller treasurer We are represented in Student Council this year by Charles Bailey Ben Greene Jack Williams and Pat Miller We chose as Miss Sophomore Class for the Homecoming Parade Jaunrta Parsons Th1s year we changed our class colors to red and gray Mrs Johnston replaced Mr Laughlin as one of our class sponsors Our social activities thrs year so far consist of a Christmas Party which was a great success Freshmen Well here we are Freshmen at last It took us a long time but we finally made II We enrolled at Ripley High Se tember 3 1952 with 135 Freshmen When we held our first class meeting the class selected class of frcers as ollows president Butch Castp vice president Shannon Westerman secretary and treasurer Ann Kessel For our Freshman cheerleaders we chose Donna Ranson and Dixie Clendendin Our representatives for MISS Viking was Darlrna Harmon and her escort was Charles Pete Jordan Our class colors are blue and white Our representauves in Student Council are Butch Casto Donna Ranson and Ann Kessel The Freshman class also have 'ive girls of whom we are very proud because they are mayorettes in the Ripley Viking Band They are Jeanne Sallaz Jean Shinn Sheila Oldham Helen Hall and Ann Kessel Our members on the Year Book Staff were Vrrgrma Ramsey and Sheila Oldham We have ten boys that play on the Junior Varsity voitball team and sew en boys that play on the Junior Varsity basketball team There are about 14 Freshmen in the 1 ing Ban At a musical radio program in Parkersburg the five Freshmen included were Eddie Lee Marion McCoy Jo Ann Landfried Jean Shinn and Sandra Landfried In a drama play at Parkersburg Phyllis Hammack had a part Our class sponsors are Mr McG1nley Mr Rader Mrs James Kessel and Mr Cook We are very proud tobe Freshmen and hope oar class remains as 15 until we graduate .
