Sophomore Class Hlstory Here we are agam back at the old grmd as Sophomores but not a lot wlser than we were when we entered chool m 1950 as Freshmen We entered w1th an enroll ment of 147 the largest class ln the chool We were fortunate to have had as our home room sponsors Mrs Marman Parsons Mr Frank Jarrett and Mr Raymond Parsons We set out on our dutles lmrnedlately and elected Rosalie Evans as Presl dent Max Crum as V1ce Pres xdent and Sue Kmg as Secretary and Treasurer Faye Mlller and Sue Kmg were selected as cheerleaders We nommated Mason Good and Betty Cobb as our cholces for Mr and Miss Vxkmg We chose as our clas colors brown and yellow Our lughllghts for the year was a w1ener roast whlch we enjoyed very much We started as Sophomores ln 1951 wxth an enrollment of 120 We chose ln our Sophomore year as Presldent Bob Hutton Vlce Presxdent Judy Kerwood Secretary and Treasurer Sue Klng For the nommatlon of Mr and Mlss Vlkmg we chose Max Crum and Shxrley Corbln Our representatxves to the Student Councll were Faye Mxller Patty Cox and Donald Ray McNew We have been sellmg scarfs blllfolds and paper and penclls m order to ralse money for the Junnor Semor Banquet whlch we must fmance ln 1953 Our hxghhght for our Sophomore year was the annual Chrxstmas Party pon sored by our home room teachers We played games and had refreshments which we enjoyed very much We are lookrng forward to makmg the class of 54 the best class ever to graduate from Rxpley Htgh School The class of 1955 has not had much tlme to make htstory but lt ts domg well establlshmg ltself around Rlpley Hxgh School We entered hxgh school an September w1th 122 enrolled We are fortunate to have as our class sponsors Mr .Tames Laughlm Mr Morley Parsons Mlss Carolyn Woofter and Mrs Janet Rnley We hope they w1ll contlnue wlth us through the rema under of our tmme m Rrpley Hlgh School At our fxrst Class meetxng we chose the followmg for our clas offncers Presldent JackW1ll1ams V1ce Presldent Geneal Paugh Secretary Betty Anderson and Treasurer Sue Cltck We also selected purple and gold for our class colors Our representatlves for Student Councxl are Delores Flser Nancy Thomas Carolyn Harpold Charles Pxerson and Roger Parsons The Freshman class chose Gary Skeens and Geneal Paugh for thenr candxdates for Mr and Mlss Vnklng There are nme Freshmen students ln the hlgh school band and two of our Freshman gtrls .To Ann Hardman and Margaret Anne Staats are majorettes We were pleased when Carolyn Harpold and Geneal Paugh were selected .lunxor Varslty Cheerleaders And speakmg of J'un1or Varslty we have twenty ftve boy on the Junlor Varslty Football and Basketball teams Although we felt strange and somewhat llke v1s1tors at the begmnmg of the year we now feel qulte as much a vltal part of the hlgh school as any of the upper clas es To make the best of what we have ns our atm and by domg thls we wlll be better pre pared for later struggles By smcernty of purpose and hard work we hope to make the class of 1955 one of whtch Rlpley Hxgh School may be Justlly proud Freshman Class History I v A
