The Face of Courage On january 31, 1967, P.F.C. Michael T. Jones, of the 101st Airborne Division, gave his life for his country in Vietnam. Michael, better known to his friends as Mickey, was a graduate of the class of '65. He is the first Raven to die in the line of action in Vietnam. After graduating from Rio, he attended the University of New Mexico for one semester and shortly after, he enlisted in the army. His basic training was completed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas where he was in the top IOWQ of the class. Later, he attended Leadership training fgraduating Znclj, Guerilla War- fare Training and jump School. Although he was not yet twenty, Mickey knew why he was fighting in Vietnam. He knew that someone must. stand up to protect the things we hold so dear at home. We are proud to have known him and to honor him now as representing the spirit of all those who wear the Face of Courage.
