The Rio Grande Business Department is composed of teachers and students who study a wide variety of subjects dealing with the skills, consumer knowledge, and exploratory areas. Students have an opportunity to de- velop skills that qualify them for secretarial, clerical, and bookkeeping positions. They also have the privilege of exploring eco- i nomics, law, business administration, and l w automatic and electronic data processing. The art of speech and expression is a vital one in this world. A pilot class in linguistics-the study and comparison of languages. fl Put Pizazz in your smile. Home movies is a new angle in teaching English. English is one of the required subjects each year in high school. To an English teacher this is the challenge: to encourage the student to like what he is forced to have and to learn what he is quite sure he already knows. In the English Department, this challenge is met daily with a great deal of ingenuity. ,464 The many faces of Shakespeare-Shakespeare was a master of expression. The band consists of many instruments whose tones are combined by a dedicated conductor. Music Musical skill, concentration, and patience are required of a good band member, plus, in some cases, very well developed lungs The Rio Grande High School Music Department is organized in a manner that allows a variety of musical experiences from exploratory to vocational. Students with little or no musical training may participate through the Girl's Chorus, Beginning Chorus, Cadet Band, or Music Survey classes. The-Raven Band, Concert Choir and Orchestra offer a high level of performance experience for the musician with some prior training. While the majority of the curriculum is avocational, for those interested in the vocational side of this art there is a class in music theory and the extra-curricular Ravenaires Stage Band. Service to the school, the community and the heart through the joy of music is the goal of this, one of Rio Grandes most active departments. Ready, set, and blow your horn. The brass section of the band contributes to the harmony of the music. '
