Maxey sweeps for yarda e against Manzano Rio Grande's high-flying Ravens took on nine major teams in the state th's year. The Ravens' unseasoned team had many disappointments, however. ln our first game of the season, the Ravens invaded the land of the Monarchs. This hard-hitting game came as a disappointment when the Monarchs had to forfeit a 26-6 win to Rio Grande because of an ineligible player. Valley seemed to be a more worthy team for the Ravens, but in the last quarter of the game Valley pulled ahead and won the game by a 14-7 victory. At Cortez, Colorado, the Rio Ravens spoiled Cortez' homecoming by romping them 32-13. Our own home- coming was more of a heartbreak, for Albuquerque High defeated us by one point. Score: 14-13. Our third Win of the year came when the Santa Fe Demons rolled onto the football field. By Ray Maxeyls passing, the game was won with a score of 20-13. Rio,s natural enemy, Highland, was the next for the Ravens and the Hornets devoured the Ravens by beat- ing them 53-13. Riois second heartbreak came when the Farmington Scorpions beat the Ravens in the last five seconds of the game by a score of 27-26. Because of the triple- threat quarterback, Ray Maxey, the football team en- joyed a season of good running and passing.
