Bull Reigan tallied the lone counter for the Bears. Rifle 20, Glenwood 0 Tied up and starting to hit high gear, the Bears rolled over the Glen- wood Demons. 'iBull Reigan count- ed first blood in the initial quarter and also booted the conversion. In the second quarter a pass from Rei- gan to Charles Everett was success- ful. The third came when Bill Rog- ers, nimble-footed halfback, skirted tackle for 23 yards. Rifle 20, Fruita 14 On a muddy field with rain stead- ily lalling, the Bears captured the C. V, L. championship by winning over Fruita. Bill Rogers scored twice for the Bears and Bull Reigan once. Rifle 14, Rangely 13 Rifle Bears eked out the opening game of the 1953 season. In the first quarter Robert Reigan plunged 18 yards through center to score. In the second half, a 65-yard punt retum by Kenny High behind fine blocking gave the Bears the opportunity to come out on top. Rifle The Bears exploded quickly for 2 quick T.D.'s in the opening period. Kenny High raced 70 yards with a punt return and shortly after, Bill Rogers hit the end zone for the other score. Reigan booted the extra point. 13. Craig 6 Rifle 7, Montrose 7 In the western slope quarterlinal game a very strong Montrose eleven eked out a victory over our Bears in the playoff after the regular game was over. Bill Rogers smashed for l yard after a 75-yard drive: Reigan booted the extra point. 54 Rifle 12, Grand Ict. 0 The stalwart Bears really fired up for this one and took the game in very convincing fashion. This was the first victory over Grand Iunction in 22 years. Kenny High tallied twice for the Bears. Rifle 27, Central 7 The rampaging Bears continued their winning by adding the Central Warriors to their list. The Bears grabbed a 14-0 lead by half-time with runs by Rogers and Reigan. With maginificent blocking by his teammates opening the way, Bill Rogers raced 53 yards with a punt return. The final T.D. was a short smack by Kenny High. Rifle 19, Meeker 7 The mighty Bears took the meas- ure of the Meeker Cowboys for the first time in 3 years. Bill Rogers tallied first blood for the Bears. Bull Reigan and Kenny High made the second and third T.D.'s respectively.

SUMMARY OF SENIOR BEARS Dennis I-lanars Q 'l'- Coach Meadors Ggrdgn Place I l Charles Everett 1 Robert Reigan Gordon Place, guard, finished the year with a 16 points per game scoring average. Gordon was the team's playmaker as well as high scorer. He was selected to the all-toumament team at Delta and is the team's honorary captain.
