Then came the Championship game with Glenwood. The game was played on their field and a huge crowd was on hand to see the Bears defeat the Glenwood Demons 5 15-O for the Conference Championship. This game also determined who would play On Homecoming day the Bears met Annunciatlon, a school from Denver. The mem- bers of the Rifle team took these boys into their homes as guests. The game, the following day, resulted in another victory for the Bears, the score being K . 59-14. 5 . On Armistice day, Hayden journeyed to Rdfle and after playing a close game on f a muddy field, the Bears chalked up another victory, the score being 20-6. E Then came the big day. The Bears took a chartered bus to Delta to play for f the Western Slope Championship. The Bears were well represented by the people 1.5 of Rifle. Delta made the first touchdown, and close to the end of the first E half, the Bears rallied, making the score 7-7. In the second half Delta made Q two more touchdowns, but the Bears cou1dn't seem to get under way The Bears g played a good game and made a good showing The score at the end of the game . was 20 7 in Delta's favor This marked the end of a highly successful season with the Bears scoring 271 points to their opponents' 99 Price accounted for 42 of these points When the all conference teams were drawn up, we had five boys on the all con ference team and seven boys from Rifle received honorable mention Those mak ing the first team were Maynard Poplin, End, Howard Gardner, Tackle, Kenneth Farmer, Guard Wilbur Mikkelson, Back, Kenneth Randolph, Back Those receiving honorable mention were Dave Mitchell, Center, Lee Miller, Guard, Ralph Long End Pat Brown Back, Dick Anson, Back, Dick Cozza, Back, and Ted Ammerman Back The boys received miniature gold footballs Of the twenty five letter X men thirteen will be returning next year YQ Z Rifle DalrY l'5IJ' olnle Ol' 4' G-as Cgfflill , . . , 5 , . . . , 0 e ' 4 'eo' Q ' E -' T W Delta for the Western Slope Championship. e
