CLASS HISTORY One happy day in the fall of '45 after eight long years of waiting, e Freshmen entered R U H S prepared for new experiences and we had plenty of new experiences at the initiation! The girls came to school in housecoats, unoombed hair, and onion corsages The boys were gracefully wearing long handles, swi ming trunks and make up We all were thoroughly punished in kangaroo court a d when we were presented with the key to the school we all thought we had earned it Our officers for the year were: President, Lee Hiller, Vice President, Helen Hoagland, Secretary, Gloria Heitz, Treasurer, Janet Duke Then came our Sophomore year. Although we were still underclassmen, we felt thoroughly acquainted with R U H S Our leaders for the year were: President, Dick Cozza, Vice President, Sam Hodge, Secretary, Jane Aluise, Treasurer, Mary Lee Oglesby le entered school in the fall of M7 as Juniors and genuine upperclassmen. Vice President, Beverly Kinman, Secretary, Jane Aluise, Treasurer, lary Lee Oglesby One of the first things we did was order our class rings Later in the fall we presented our talented actors and actresses to a full house in our play 'Ma's New Husband' In the spring we honored the Seniors with a banquet and prom that will long be remembered for the romantic Hawaiian setting The Senior year which we had been waiting for arrived at last To start off right we elected our class officers: President, Albertalangstaff, Vice President, Sam Hodge, Secretary, Gloria Heltz, Treasurer, Stanley Cutshall The year was very busy for all of us We ordered announcements and had our pictures taken le honored the Juniors at the annual Senior Junior Prom Among the other activities of the year were the Senior play, Senior Tacky Day, and Senior Sneak Day In the late spring the Juniors hon red us with a prom and banquet In May we graduated, leaving the halls that held so many of our hallowed memories. le elected to lead us through this year: President, Wilbur Mikkelsone Show' Notes- Co. Ullohny we leave all the memories of '48 football, but we'll take llles we leave all the broken test tubes and stained aprons. Knapp we leave Dramatics talent in hopes that he can pound it into lr. Antes we will acute, right and obtuse triangles. I ss lccaughey we leave the worn out typewriter ribbons, Mr. Peercy we leave seventeen vacant seats to be filled by promising lr. Allen we leave the new building financial headaches. lr. Swenson, the Junior Office Girl's to train. lr. Terrence we leave dreams of having the new gym completed by 1950. Juniors we will our ability to get along in class meetings. Sophmores we will our seats at the Junior Senior banquet next year Freshmen we will our favorite motto: 'Learn to be Quiet ' Vaughn leaves her ability to go steady with one man to Dorothy Lorraine Graham leaves her ability to chew gum in Public Speaking to anybody that will take it Mary Lou Tomlinson leaves her seat in assemblies to any human dust rag Jim Haberman leaves his shortness to Adrian Carlson. Alberta Iangstaff wills her height to Jesse Myers. Helen Harmon leaves her typing speed to Letha Johnson Jane Aluise wills her popcorn job to Martha Neal Jack lood leaves his slimness to Bill Melsner Norma Harris wills all her ability to fight with her boyfriend to someone who likes to argue Eugene Bash wills his ability to play a baritone to some windy blowhard Bonnie Falke wills her clarinet playing and marching ability to Betty Lou Stephens Gloria Belts wills her ability to get along with teachers to her little sister.
