There werea good nu ber of boys out for basket ball, but when the final cutting ended at the first of the season, there were about twenty left on the Rifle lst and 2nd teams As the season progressed this number was cut to fifteen For the last game there were only ten taken on The season was not very They won only three of their their conference games Bu eration the size of the boys the trip successful for the Bears games losing all of if we take into consid on the team and their lack of experience,they did a good job The team was made up of Juniors and Sophomores with even one Freshman on the lst string and two on the second The season started with five lettermen but ended through difficulties, with only two during the last half of the year Six boys lettered this year and all of them are expected back next year The second string had a very successful season winning most all of their games This shows well what Rifle can expect in the future Mike Lucero Forward Junior Place Them Montrose Palisade Hotchkiss Fruita Montrose Glenwood Central Fruita Glenwood Palisade Central Meeker Montrose overtime overtime The last game with Montrose was a playoff between the 4th place team in the Gunnison Valley and the 4th place in the Colorado Valley to see who got to go to Delta for the tournament Dutch Peltier Guard Sophomore Ralph Long Kenneth Randolph Ted Ammerman Guard Sophomore Forward Junior Center Fresh an ' I .
