Mr R W Richards Superintendent One of the most important com pensations every teacher received is the pleasure and pride one feels as he helps with the intellectual growth and development of the young people in his school As I look back upon the past four years at Rifle I feel that my compensation has been more than that enjoyed by the teachers of average classes Furthermore, I am sure that these years have been only the start The Class of 1948 has grown in stature each year until it now ranks with the best I have worked with and, I am sure many members will go for ward totakepositions of impor tance in our nation's work We must not lose sight of the fact that this is the only country on earth that free secondary edu cation is possible, that ours is the responsibility to prove that this is the best way of education by going forward to better govern ment and life in our gloriouscoun try! The fact that the school year 1947 1948 has been the most suc cessful for many years has been due in large part to the spirit of cooperation shown by the stu dent body in general and the Sen 'or Class in particular The new program which was initiated at the beginning of the second sem R U H S as well as a step for ward in educational policy The way in which the majority of the students accepted a rather revolu tionary step was very gratifying To the members of the Cliff Book Staff and to their sponsors, I extend my congratulations on a long, hard task well done To the members of the Senior Class I ex tend my sincere wishes that the future of each one of them may be happy and successful. To the fac ulty I extend my thanks for a good year, for which they are largely responsible Mr H F Swenson Principal 4 C H.
