THE SHADOW P resented by The Senior Class Nineteen Hundred Sixty-Four Ridgeville Local School Ridgeville Corners, Ohio Editor ................................Jim Boelter Assistant Editor ......................Nancy Nelson Copy Editor............................Diane Hoffman Business Manager ......................Gary Short Assistant Business Manager ............Carolyn Arps Photography Layout.....................Lynn Genter Adviser................................Russell Hansen Junior Assistants Susan Christofel Jerry Bostelman Nancy Hoffman Photography by PRENTISS STUDIOS, Napoleon, Ohio Published by AMERICAN YEARBOOK COMPANY, Hannibal, Missouri Advertising . ... 71 Mrs. Robert (Jane) Durbin To Mrs. Durbin, whose time with us was too short, but whose purpose is lasting, the Class of 1964 dedicates this edition of the SHADOW. We do this in sincere appreciation for her sacrifices, unselfishly given to enrich the lives of others--services which we consider symbolic of the principles of the teach- ing profession. 4 The school year has passed and only the SHADOWS remain. Bat whether a SHADOW is of a laugh, something learned, or of simply living, the year 1963-64 holds a wealth for each student. We laughed. What's in a laugh? Perhaps it's a feeling inside like the satisfaction of a rich life. Maybe it's the security of friendship, or maybe it gushes forth in some glorious moment. We have learned that it is an easy way to learn and a wonderful way to live. Laugh . . . In a book there are many worlds --the se a student travels with his teacher as his guide. There are many other worlds to learning--these a student travels with the teacher as his friend. Knowledge through laughing, learning, and living results as the student recalls the Shadows from his travels. These Shadows he carries with him in many ways to learn . . . learn . . . 8 Live The crowd cheers the team on, a teacher prods her students, graduates are congratulated and challenged, groups establish ideals, and friends encourage one another. Thus the world moves around--ever changing, but always moving ahead. And its youth laugh, learn, and live with a desire to rise above--to go beyond. 10 Tis education forms the common mind the tree's inclined. ander Pope SENIORS Graduates who received awards are SEATED: Nancy Nelson-- I Dare You, Diane Hoffman--Valedictorian, Carolyn Arps--Co-Salutatorian, Karen Gerken-- Crisco Award. Neil Nofziger served as the model for special division page shots which serve to bind the ideas in much the same way as the rubber cement binds the pictures to the mounting boards. Mr. Robert Prentiss of Prentiss Studios, Napoleon, excelled both in his superior photography and in his patience with the staff. Mr. Gus Hoverson of American Yearbook Company put the cover on our efforts by his assistance in the publication of the '64 SHADOW. With sincere thanks to these and all others who made it possible, we extend to you, with our wishes for your enjoyment, this edition of the SHADOW. Neil Nofziger
