Class By JUDY HOLMBERG As I glanced through the paper, Inoticed a headline article about the 1972 Olympics, which were being held in the thriving metropolis of Ridgefield, Wash. This Ihad to see, and having nothing better to do on my vacation from being an Airline Stewardess, I made arrangements to go home at once. On arrival I couldn't believe my eyes, millions of people all round and there on a platform greeting the crowds to his fair city was Mayor Willie Hall, and also on the platform were the city officials, Chief of Police, Chris Swindell, with a ten gallon Stetson on, and Fire Chief Lee Walker, who was calmly lighting matches one after the other. As I drove on I noticed an exhibition of strength and skill going on. Donna Larer and Gloria Larson were wrestling, it seems, for the lightweight championship, and their managers, dressed in mink and silk, were Patsy Holloway and Gloria Hegge. Very prosperous in- deed! As we proceeded down the Avenue we suddenly swerved and smashed into a big black Cadillac. The chauffeur immediately jumped out, he turned out to be Lyle Talbott, and all of a sudden a trumpet started blowing and out stepped Harold Patee, who was the renowned jazz musician. It seems he was just home from his trip as Good Will Ambassador to Mars. Just then I saw Kathy Richards and Joyce Oldham, who were just back from deep dark Africa where they were the assistants of the famous big game hunter, Art Sutton. It was just time for the 20 mile dash on the event field so I hurried over and there in the starting line-up was Mike Furno, who had broken the world's record playing leap frogg with real frogs. After all the excitement, I was getting hungry so I went over to one of the refreshment stands and there Gladys Anderson and Laura Washburn were holding a thriving business selling the world's largest hot dogs. Then with a full stomach I wandered over to the tennis stadium where the world's championship Women's Singles were being held. I saw a red flash and then a black one, and there were Carolyn Kaufman and Teresa Medina playing fast and furiously. As I turned to leave I bumped into a lady dressed in white. It turned out to be Kathlene Hawkins, famous lady chemist, and on a leash was her human guinea pig, Bob Zimmerly. I proceeded to the International Beauty Show. As I watched out walked Linda Koetbe, who was the runner-up for Miss World, dressed in a leopard skin dress. Just then I heard a lot of confusion and noise. I hurried outside and the President of the United States and his private secretary had just ar- frived. I was flabbergasted when they turned out to be Ken Harris and Kay Hardt. Following behind them came the Vice-President and his Prophecy secretary, who were Bill Matney and Jean Hill. I got out of the bowing and saluting and cheering and proceeded to a talent show to rest my weary feet. On the stage appeared Gail Osborne and Tim Kasper who had an incredible sword swallowing act. It seems they are married. Then came the feature attraction, the new 3 Stooges, Steve Tworek, Jerome Bakshas, and Glen Engelking. They were even better than the originals. After the show I decided to Wander through the much changed city of Ridgefield. As I walked past the huge new high school I heard crying and wailing going on inside. It was the class of '61, It seems they've had some trouble at trying to graduate. The principal stood on guard outside. Upon looking closer, he turned out to be Oliver Kessinger. As I walked on, I came to a huge diamond factory, and the owners, Gary Lehner and Charlie Gretsch were standing over the workers with whips. Since the noise was unbearable I walked on to an exclusive dress shop owned by Sue Garrison and Pat Cross, They had just gotten back from a fashion stealing trip from Paris. Right next door was another shop. It seems they sold foundation garments to ladies so they could wear the dresses next door. The owners turned out to be Charline Dees, Jean Burk, and Carol Hixson. I noticed a Sporting Goods Store down the street, and upon entering I discovered it was exclusively wrestling equipment, signed by none other than the World's champion, Larry Steen. I rang the bell and Buddy Powell, the proprietor, came out. I asked him what was new in the sports business. I was shocked to learn that Billy Griffith had finally been admitted on the Harlem Globetrotters Team. I hurried on to the Ridgefield Epitaph Newspaper office. I was greeted by the Editor, Myrna Mills. She offered to take me out to dinner that night. It seems the great torch singer Joanne Reed was featured at the Country Kitchen. Just then the president of the bank drove by with his chauffeur Randy Chapman and secretary. Ron Nickels and Norma Snoen must have finally struck it rich. Simultaneously, Alan Schurman, Dwight Shetler, and Ken Stovener drove by. Myrna informed me they had the biggest dairy farm in the World now. Having put in a very full day I decided to say farewell to the City of Ridgefield and leave. As I was leaving I noticed a statue of Evelyn Pierre, World's Greatest Stunt Flyer. I came to two diligent street cleaners, busily sweeping the streets of their fair city. It so happens they were Bob Hallstrom and Tony Biendichio. As I left the city limits I thought to myself, The Class of GO has surely lived up to its reputation of being the best class to graduate from old Ridgefield High School. Excelsior
