ormer Teacher Returns As co: iz ELMER W. McCORMICK Principal, South Campus B.A. and M.A., University of California; Mathematics and Physical Education Teacher, Wil- merding High School, San Francisco; Longfellow Junior High School, Richmond High School, Richmond Adult School; Dean’s Office, Richmond High School; Counselor, Richmond Adult School; Principal of Richmond Adult School and Adams Junior High School. 24 years in Richmond School District; 5 years at Richmond High School. TO THE SENIORS: The decade of the seventies will be an important milestone in your life. I forsee two important aspects. First, I feel that changes in your way of life will accelerate, and secondly, that the really important things that will affect your life will be most affected by your relationships with people, not things. I feel you will find smoother sailing in the seventies, if you spend time planning your future and not worrying about the past. Keep an open mind. Make learning a lifelong process in order to meet the challenges of constant change. Maintain good lines of communication by listening and trying to understand the feelings and ideas of others. Good communication builds trust. Trust is basic to positive relationships between people. Best wishes for future happiness and success. Sincerely, Elmer W. McCormick 28

30 MR. ROBERT DYCUS Instructional Vice-Principal, South Campus; B.A., Uni- versity of Oklahoma; M.A., San Francisco State; Eng- lish, Government, and History Teacher; 3 years at RHS. MISS JANE WILSON Instructional Vice-Principal, North Campus; B.A., M.A., William and Mary College; Teachers College, Columbia, San Francisco State; Chairman of Social Studies Depart- ment, History and Civics Teacher, Dean of Girls; 23 years at RHS. Our Vice- Principals Direct TO THE CLASS OF 1970: Each age calls for new solutions to old problems. Each graduating class holds out the promise that we will find fresh ways to solve our problems. This class had to endure the full term of the Baby- lonian Captivity of Richmond High School. The students faced this situation with good humor, fortitude and hard work. The members of this‘ class overcame many problems to present class projects each year—and a class was forged. The qualities which carried this class through three trying, but successful, years will be of great value as the Class of 1970 helps build a better society for us all. W. Robert Dycus TO THE CLASS OF 1970: You began and ended a phase in the history of Richmond High. You entered Richmond the first year of our split campus and will be the last class to graduate before the school is reunited. You have proven your ability to adjust to many changes. We hope you are just as prepared to meet the many changes and challenges of the new decade and the new phase of life you are entering. The very best of luck to each of you. Jane Wilson
