y) Members e Campus Travelers Mr. Jay Wilson arrives at the South to meet with his American Government and Sociology Classes. He begins his day with two Sophomore Sociology Classes. Relaxing in the Faculty lounge during fourth period is Miss Robin. Simmons, who finishes her day by instructing Juniors and Seniors in Art onthe South Campus. Mrs. Shirley Yates leaves the South Campus Gym to finish her day con- ducting P. E. classes on the North Campus. Mrs. Mary Westra takes off in a whirl from the South Campus, as she travels to teach the Freshmen and Sophomores the art of speaking French.

Mr. Joseph Macken arrives in his Volkswagen bus on the South Campus to conduct his English and Creative Writing Classes in Room 316. He begins his day at the North Campus where he instructs English and Sociology. Mr. Maynard Briggs begins his day at the South Campus, where he has Applied Art Classes. He ends his duties with Art Classes in 502 on the North Grounds. German Campus. Nine Faculty M Become C : : Sere ; ; aad Rela Sporting her Friday transportation, Miss Harriet Williamson leaves the Simt South Campus, where she conducts Journalism Classes, to meet with in A her Sophomore English Classes on the North. The inevitable box is th e Shield Copy, which she works on at her “leisure.” Mrs. Lois Holman, a wizard in Mathematics, steps into her sports car to end her day with her two Math classes on the North Domaine. Miss Joan Hammarberg arrives in Room 204 of the South Edifices to instruct her German and French Classes. She begins her day with and French students on the North

(4) Dawn Perry (5) On Thursday, February 5, the Business Department at South Campus took delivery on an IBM 1620 System Computer, made up of a 1620 Central Process. ing Unit, a, 1622 Card reader- punch and a 548 Card Inter. preter. The Central Processor is the Computer with a typewriter —for direct communication be- tween the unit and the operator. But for most programs punched cards are better. First (1) cards must be punched with the needed information. This is done by a “key punch operator.” Here Mrs. Donna Healy, in her first period Data jeu Processing Class, instructs her students on one of their two key punches and the verifier. Next (2) the cards are placed in the “read” hopper of the 1622, which reads the punched holes and sends the information to the 1620, and then (3) drops the cards below where they can be removed. The Computer can then accept data from cards or the typewriter or if necessary, a program can be placed into the machine from the keyboard (4, 5). The final step (6), waits the fraction of a second for the computer to give Unknown Data Processing student
